Isn't the problem that ebay AI decides if your item is large letter or not, not you.

#Computer says no

If something is excluded I imagine that 'custom postage' becomes available and the seller can specify his own postage options.

Confirmation that large letter is excluded from Simple Delivery

I for one am relieved that large letter is excluded from simple delivery as my unwanted personal possessions often fit into this category.

Also, glad I asked the question so clearly so there would be no misunderstanding and marco would know exactly what I meant.

You know and I know that marco@ebay just got confused here.

"Pro-mentor" @*vyolla* posted a screenshot (below)on 15th April, confirming that SD was required for large letters. (although the page he quotes from seems to have reverted back to its previous unclear wording).

Perhaps eBay genuinely doesn't know, and it hasn't yet been decided. For about the 47th time, could marco@eBay  or someone else please provide a definitive answer.

If you do know, that would be easy.

If you are referring to me I did not see the post you refer to and with no other info to go on, naturally believe marco's answer.

Also the post by vyolla was posted on the 15th April and so assume things have changed since then.

I'm sorry but I don't the answer to that, I'm a bit late to this topic and with things changing so often its hard to keep up.

The problem is when you look at the exclusion list which i am having to add as two pictures, most items have to include large letters, take garden bulbs how many different plants have bulbs that small, or coins which are 99/100 large letters etc.

The whole thing is as about as clear as stodgy mud and to be honest I can't offer any sound advice as the goal posts keep getting moved and there are too many unanswered questions that remain just that.

If you’re using custom postage you pick the size weight and postage cost not eBay

there are more options here than with SD ie LL in weight increments from 100g to 1kg tracked  or untracked, and small parcel , though parcels don’t qualify for custom postage generally

If using SD you get the choice of envelope up to 100g, large letter up to 1kg, 1kg parcel, 2kg parcel etc (all tracked obviously)

I just posted marco's answer to my question, I have not been following the situation with large letter very closely so don't have much to go on apart from his confirmation that large letter is excluded from simple delivery.

Things regarding the new changes do seem to be a bit up in the air at the moment with things changing often, its hard to keep up!

Ok no problem

so do you understand it same as me then..ie the answer is that

you can use a large letter instead of an envelope if you need to when using custom delivery ? Long as your item is under 100g and a tenner

it all stemmed from exemptions for SD having to be “envelope sized “ and what this actually meant specifically

because LLs are still envelopes

a customer agent had said to me the rule referred to “Postable inventory” which LLs do come under…even evri call LLs postables

then eBay decided to announce LLs must go via SD only

then they removed that announcement

we await the next chapter

Anyway 😐🤣

Apart from marco confirming that large letter is excluded from simple delivery I do not know how it relates to the 100g and £10 limit previously quoted, so still questions! 🤣

My answer from CS at the weekend

"I was able to understand that you would like more clarification regarding the postage label size regarding "Simple delivery". Please know that if the item is below £10, you will not have the option for it however as the item is below £10 you can simply opt out of the "Simple delivery" feature and get the label directly from your end."

I think the response on todays chat can be read so many ways as to be more unhelpful than helpful.

I'm pretty sure marco@eBay misunderstood the question as "Please confirm if large letters are included in Simple Delivery", rather than "excluded from".

The screenshot he added certainly suggests that.

But we'll never know, unless he clarifies.

Yes, marco quite possibly didn't comprehend the question correctly but it was so simply and clearly worded, with a total absence of ambiguity, that it's difficult to understand how he made such a mistake.

This is compounded by so much confusion surrounding simple delivery in general, one would hope that during the weekly chat, presided over by ebay representatives, they would put enough effort and focus into answering questions that are asked to prevent further confusion being created.

Maybe marco@ebay could be prevailed upon to come to this thread and clear up this uncertainty about whether in fact large letter is or is not excluded from simple delivery.  This would very much appreciated.

Large letters per se can’t be excluded from simple delivery

They can contain items weighing over 100g and worth more than £10

so have to go simple delivery

what we want to know is if large letters are excluded from custom delivery (if they meet the price and weight limits)

so, if you have a bracelet that weighs under 100g and under £10 ..according to ebays new list of items that can go custom delivery is one item that can, can you put it in a large letter? Because who is going to post a bracelet in a ruddy envelope

just the bubble wrap would take it over the thickness limit

I hate situations like this, makes you wonder if you’re seriously just not getting it or going mad

apologies in advance if this is happening to me lol
