I recently sold an item, it was lost by the courier - the tracking information provided by eBay was incomplete and the courier could offer no assistance.
As a seller, I actioned a refund immediately - and as a goodwill gesture, sent a replacement item at my cost.
The buyer was refunded and recieved the item I shipped the next day.. 3 days later, the original item was delivered.
eBay ( on Febuary the 8th ) offered me a compensation payment for the first item, which I duly accepted.
11th of Febuary, still no compensation payment received.. I spoke to an advisor who said wait 24hours.
12th of Febuary, still no compensation payment received.. I spoke to an advisor who said the payment had been released and should be in my account within 24hours.
13th of Febuary, still no compensation payment received.. I spoke to an advisor who said the payment had been and would provided me with a payment tracking number via email - to wait 5 minutes for it to arrive.
3 hours later, no email arrived ( yes I checked the spam folder )..
I again spoke to a customer advisor who advised eBay has never provided tracking numbers for payments, nor do so.. hence why it did not arrive. I recorded the call..

2 hours later, the email arrived with the tracking number for the payment, I requested a call back..

I'm still none the wiser, have been accused of being rude I'm still out of pocket for 2 items..

I have never heard of ebay paying a 'compensation payment', but I have frequently heard of ebay CS agents telling members what they want to hear to get the off the call.
Do you perhaps mean compensation from Packlink for the lost parcel?

No, eBay commended me on my actions - refunding the buyer immediately.. sending a replacement at my own cost.
They said they would 're-imburse' me for these costs as I kept to the accpeted standard they expect from sellers on eBay.
This is how I am being treated. 🙂

I think they lied. There is no policy to support their promise.

Well if they've lied or mislead me, then they are liable for those actions & the actions of their employees.

My advice to any seller using eBay - if there is an issue, record all calls ( notify the agent first you are doing so )
Whether promises are made - be it verbal or in writing - it is legally binding and each CS is a representative of eBay and the company as a whole.
I have an email from eBay so I can track their compensation payment with the payment tracking number.
What I do with it is anyones guess..

Final note, they were quick enough to take payment for promoting the item that was sold and subsequently lost.
So eBay are up £10 - I'm out of pocket to £150
I've posted the 2 above transcripts on Twitter to reach a wider audience.

I really hope you get what they promised but they seem to get away with reneging.

Maybe you should look into Financial Ombudsman for that. You seem to have kept detailed records.
