What the devil is happening on eBay …
So much uncertainty with regard to moving forward and finalising the exact and accurate details of BPF and SD.
Reading the community postings, I get the impression that several sellers have already delisted their items or will once definite details are known. Alarmingly many of these sellers have been with and supporting eBay for several years.
I personally have decided to stop buying on eBay.
The addition of BPF has inflated the item price and several products can be now be sourced cheaper on other selling platforms.
A friend of mine has now stopped selling on eBay. They were selling off their collection of small items (badges, medallions etc) which would often be posted in a Jiffy bag using Royal Mail Large Letter. Apparently these now come under SD even they weigh less than 100gram total weight.
There has most certainly been A TOTAL LACK OF COMMUNICATION FROM eBAY.
Several intended dates they have mentioned in the past 4/6 weeks have past without anything happening and are CURRENTLY FAILING TO OFFER UPDATES.
CONTEMPT for their sellers and buyers has become obvious.
What a shambles … you have to wonder about Senior Management within this organisation.

It's pretty terrible.

I've listed two items with local pickup.
Won't be offering anything through post because even though there is option of custom postage available, I will NEVER let AI change my postage option. There is no guarantee it won't change my custom postage.
Best thing to do is just sit back and see how things pan out.

I occasionally sell football programmes on a private account. These are rarely priced over a fiver; three quid would be a normal price.
Back in December, a £3.00 programme would cost a buyer £4.55, including £1.55 postage for 2nd class large letter, which provides adequate protection for such a low cost item.
Now the cost to the buyer is £6.54 - £3.00 purchase prices, 84p BPF (should be 87p), £2.70 Simple Delivery.
That's an increase of £1.99, or almost 44%.
I could previously deal far better with combined postage for multiple orders.
I appreciate you can play around with figures and find less onerous examples, even some where SD may work out cheaper, but that increase has got to be affecting sales. I might pay £4.55 for a programme, but I ain't paying £6.54.

Their silence is deafening. They are burying their heads in the sand and hoping the kick back will simply blow over. Well let’s hope not. Just watch the kick back when SD goes mandatory. I for one will remove my listings. Not that anything is selling the BPF scam put pay to that. The seniors (children) at eBay should be getting worried; by now the stats should all be on the downward trend - less sellers, less buyers, profits going down the toilet! What a complete ******* shambles😩

Or skip SD altogether and use a different carrier like I did with a sale on private account went straight to RM then added tracking In further a few days later.
although with eBay holding onto private sellers cash they’re earning interest

Did you list with SD and then do your own postage, or not use SD at all?
I ask because lots of sellers are saying they can't add their own tracking when they listed with SD but didn't use it.

I did start to use SD on the parcel I had but noticed that they put down the wrong weight for it. So cancelled it and went to rm instead . I put in my own tracking, it does take 3/4 attempts to put the tracking in.
the item arrived at its destination and buyer was well pleased with it
