Buyer demanding a refund

Seems a strange one to me, but I recieved a message from a buyer wanting a refund on an item I sold to them 4 months ago.  They originally left positive feedback and theres no message from Ebay themselves, so they dont seem to have officially opened a case.  What is the time limit for refunds? i thought it was 30 days? or is it a case of theyre trying it on to get money back?

I'd ignore them........ the time limit *is* 30 days. (and they can't hold neg. feedback over your head either....)

The limit for a 'chargeback' (getting money back off a credit card payment) is about 6 months (?) but if there was proof the item *arrived* (i.e. a tracking number) they can't do a 'didn't arrive' chargeback.

Their only option is a 'not as described' chargback, and there's not much you can do about that one 😞

Lets hope they don't know it exists.....

As already advised, they only have 30 days to open a return request through eBay.  PayPal also only provide 30 days for an 'Item not as described' dispute.  The time limit for filing a chargeback is usually 120 days from date of purchase, so they may now be out of time for that as well.

Ignore it and don't make any suggestions of other routes. There is consumer legislation that allows a longer window for redress than eBay's thirty days if the product has not given reasonable service. If their complaint is valid, then you simply have to comply.

What is their declared reason for wanting a refund?
