It's a shame that you didn't ask for it before the courier collected it. They could have either given it to you on the day of collection or given it to the courier and if not, you were within your rights to refuse to let the item go.
As long as the buyer does not open a case for item not as described, then you won't have any issues although you will have to wait longer before Ebay release your funds.
