Buyer Fees

It appears that since eBay removed listing fees they now want to recoup their losses through buyer protection fees.

As I have already pointed out to eBay, buyers were already protected under eBay  without a charge and are also protected under  The Consumer Contracts Regulations - which came into force in the UK in June 2014 and replaced Distance Selling Regulations.

Charging a buyer a fee to be protected when they are already protected under the Consumer Contracts Regulations is sheer greed and nothing more!

Image going to the shop and being “charged” a fee to buy a pint of milk - sheer madness!

In this day and age it’s pure greed and I hope people boycott eBay and it goes bust!

For me and other sellers who’s profit margin is very low, this is a kick in the teeth for us. In order to be competitive, we will have to drop our prices to allow for the extra fees that the buyer incurs - bear in mind that many of us don’t charge postage and it is already incorporated in the price and we pay this ourselves!

I’ve also seen that eBay will now determine the best method of shipping for sellers - it’s an ever changing world where everyone wants power and control!!

I sincerely hope people will boycott eBay and that it goes bust - they need to be taught a lesson that greed doesn’t prevail!

For me, I’m thinking about closing my account and selling direct from a website so that I am in total control of my prices without hidden charges. I this modern day it seems that it’s all about profit to feed the shareholders far profits and customer service no longer exists!

To be honest the greed started a while back - a well know courier wanted to charge me a “processing fee” of £12 when invoicing me for import fees. That in itself is wrong - how they can justify charging someone to pay imports fees that they have to legally pay is again proof that greed is paramount in everyday walks of life!!!

Buyer Fees

Dozens of threads have appeared regarding this matter. Your post adds nothing to them.

However, in your post you mention "profit margins", and being "competitive". That suggests you are a business, and, if you are running a business account, you will not be affected by these changes (at the moment, at least), as they only apply to private sellers.

Your user name, badge, and talk of profit margins, importing and selling competitively suggest that you run a business selling angling equipment - so this change shouldn’t affect you in any way.

Buyer Fees

I totally agree ebay is punishing the people that helped it grow, the small sellers. I've been with ebay over 20years, and rather than being rewarded for my loyalty i'm now being penalised.

My wife yesterday closed her account and is now selling on vinted, i'm considering my options and looking at alyernatives and may follow her.

Ebay is like all large US corps, don't care less about the clients or people, they are just greedy.
