Is one of your options in the case to refuse the return?  If so, it's up to you what you do.

Has the buyer started a return or just messaged you asking you for a refund?

If there is a return case open what reason did the buyer use? If it was not as described you don’t have a choice but to accept and send the label.

If it was another reason you can refuse the return but expect neg feedback. They might then go for a refund via their payment method.

At the moment they've only messaged wanting to return as they no longer want it but have mentioned charger no longer working after 3 days that they believe it was faulty

They probably don’t know the correct procedures. Many buyers think just messaging the seller and having a moan will get them a refund.

If you want to try and avoid negative feedback etc you should advise them to open a ‘faulty’ return case and respond in a timely manner. At least you might get the item back in good order to resell but if eBay end up stepping in you could lose both money and item and possibly a gain a strike that could affect your account. eBay’s buyer protections are very robust.

I wouldn’t refuse a return request ‘on principle’ or just because my listing said ‘no returns’. As a buyer if I buy something on the internet I expect to be able to return it, it doesn’t matter to me who I bought it from.

As a private seller you do not have to accept returns ( unless misrepresented) if you have put " no returns" on your listings, but many do as it helps future sales and to build up your account ; as you are new I would honour the return by sending a message to the buyer for them to open  a " faulty" case via eBay and that once they have returned the item to you, you will send a refund. It is entirely up to you though.
