In one particular thread about 'Simple Delivery' which I've been active in over the past few days, the suggestion has been made that someone - ie., me, an eBay member of 25 years - should start a petition.
With seemingly thousands of posts in numerous threads from members extremely displeased with both SD and the closely-associated BPF - which effectively replaced the 'Sellers Fee' that we all used to pay - perhaps it may be an idea to consolidate the strength of feeling in one place?
So, here it is - the closest we can likely get to an actual petition on this board - and please, keep it simple.
If you object to the mandatory implementation of 'Simple Delivery' and would like it either scrapped altogether, or made optional so those who wish to can use it - please simply post:
Scrap SD
or
Make SD Optional
And as the 'Buyer Protection Fee' is having negative impacts on us as sellers (and buyers, which many of us are too), and would like eBay to revert to the old 'Seller Fees' system (none of us can reasonably expect this platform to be run for free) then please simply post:
BPF - Revert to Seller Fees
Unless you only wish to register an opinion on one or the other, I don't see any reason why both SD and BPF cannot be included in single posts.
Maybe, if enough of us make our voices heard in one place, so the powers-that-be can see clearly, they might - just might - listen. Over to you.

The majority seem to want BPF to revert to sellers’ fees.
Out of interest, what level of seller fees would be acceptable to each of you, as sellers, to include in your pricing of your items which buyers, like me, would ultimately pay.
Suggestions?
Buyers reading this will be interested as well.

I would be happy paying up to 10% fees on the sale price.......excluding fees on postage.
Obv i would like my items to be actually seen for that fee
Simple Delivery...scrap it as its not a viable option

Scrap SD
or
Make SD Optional
(it doesn’t work, but happy for it to be optional)

Thank you (Mrs?) Glyn.
Anyone else?
Only comment on SD would be that it's a tad pricey.
Can't comment on the workings of it but it appears to be the usual eBay pig's ear of things.

Thank you.....Mr does not post on the boards 🙂 (well very rarely) I cant stand watching the Grand Prix unlike him!
As i have said before SD will never work for us mainly as its way too inflexible for our lifestyle/other commitments ......as well as expensive.

Hello DA,
I'm firmly with mrs. glyn here........... up to 10% would be fine as a selling fee 😊
I could live with the buyer's fee if I have to, but I can't live with S.D.

I think SD is a simple case of something that just doesn’t work for the vast majority of sellers.
I think BPF is a bit more tricky - I wasn’t selling when there were seller fees, but I think the problem with BPF is just in small value items where the minimum fee just makes selling small value items impossible. Items under £3 should be exempt - who needs protection anyway for something that cheap - it makes little sense.

It's a disaster scrap both SD and BPF

May i add another question to the floor? I have stopped buying on Ebay but was bored so had a little look very recently. Even in the real gold categories to me it seems as if private members are listing way less than usual and there now just seems to be an abundance of Business sellers in that particular category. Obv its usually a very popular category.
Have others noticed this in various categories?

'Items under £3 should be exempt - who needs protection anyway for something that cheap - it makes little sense.'

Well, the BPF doesn't really have any 'protection' related reasons (that's just 'marketing' ...a.k.a. a little bit of a lie! )
It's only really there to replace the old selling fees, so it has to be on all items; regardless of how cheap they are.

Make SD Optional
BPF - Revert to Seller Fees (And make private sellers pay the same as business sellers, as well as giving them the same offers and vouchers. If the base rate is too high for the private sellers, lower the rate for all. Absolutely no reason why businesses should pay more than individuals for the service provided.)

It’s not a viable platform anymore for small sales like BluRays and CDs due to the 75p minimum on BPF - It makes it impossible to compete with business sellers (ironically when we probably have something we quite literally want to pretty much give away!!!) I suspect this has had a big impact in that area - I’ve got a box of 80 odd movies that I’m considering just dumping on as a job lot because I can’t think of any other way to make it viable.

Or maybe make business sellers pay the same as private sellers because business sellers usually have much higher overheads etc
As a private ex seller.....it depends on the percentages in fees as i would personally not be prepared to pay more than 10%. I would not be interested in offers or vouchers. just my opinion as it sounds a bit too complicated.

I'm sure the Buyer Protection fee is putting some people off, with regards to Simple Delivery I'm still managing to send stuff my way by Royal Mail admitted I have to wait 2 days after delivery to get paid which was a hassle at first with cash flow but It's all ok now.

Yes i agree with you expecially when you are up against the big boys who can happily sell such items in massive volumes for pence.
The last few months i was being really selective on what we listed. Postage costs were also a huge factor in whether it was worth listing an item. We tried to list items worth £15 or a lot more.

I've noticed a reduction in the number of listings in the categories in which I have an interest.
However, I still see unrealistic prices from genuine Private Sellers for second-hand items (I'll ignore the pseudo private chancers).
The 75p part of the BPF I've always considered to be that eBay wants rid of the very low cost items - the 75p per item making it untenable to sell such items.
But, yes, there's less about than there used to be.

Make SD opitionon

Do genuine private sellers refer to cash flow? Surely thats a business term.
Also sellers cannot do cash on collection nowadays. Item has to be paid for up front before collection and a QR code issued.
