Simple Delivery - no small parcel options

Just spent 30mins trying to explain to ebay that Simple Delivery - which all private sellers are going to be forced to use - isn't fit for purpose.

I regularly sell shoebox size parcels, via Royal Mail, i.e. Royal Mail Small Parcel (45 x 35 x 16cm)

Simple delivery options jumps from Royal Mail Large Letter  (35.3 x 25 x 2.5cm) to Royal Mail Medium Parcel (61 x 46 x 46cm) - with nothing in between.

I don't need to be told that Simple Delivery will ensure I am paid faster, and protected, etc. 

ALL MEANINGLESS IF CUSTOMERS THINK I AM RIPPING THEM OFF ON POSTAGE COSTS!!!!

I just got hit by this, first listing where a customer picked royal mail, got to the post office and they told me it was a large letter and didn't fit the dimensions for same.

Not remotely impressed.

If you look at the options when listing under the Simpletons Delivery (oops sorry Simple), the options either 1 kg or 2 kg relate to the Medium Parcel sizes. You as a seller actually gains from this as the price for a 1 KG medium parcel on Simple Delivery is £3.44 which is a penny cheaper than buying a RM Small Parcel label from RM.

According to ebay they are re-introducing RM Small Parcels with effect Tues 20 May. It's only taken them over a month to fix their error when implementing Simple Delivery! At the same time they will revert the RM Medium size parcel price to match that of Royal Mail. Therefore any current listings that have a Medium Parcel will need to be amended if Sellers want to send by Small Parcel, otherwise the buyer will be overcharged.

i do not thing small parcels where the problem but it was for ebay/RM  as all were going at medium parcel size at small parcel rates, so must be loosing money and the only reason i see as to why they are changing it  !, if it was for our benefit they would sort out letters and large letters and we could use 2nd class post

We're being ripped off with this new "simple delivery" thing, and the "custom delivery" options hardly makes a difference.

I sell a lot of bicycle wheels and rims, all stuff that is large but lightweight, typically 70x70x10cm and 2-3kg weight. Parcelforce direct is about £10.80 but eBay prepaid label charged £14 I think, and you cannot (or at least, I cannot see this option anywhere) enter manually dimensions and weight for the package.

I also sell a lot of cycling spare parts , the vast majority being a medium parcel (shoe box or less) below 1kg so I have to choose a larger parcel which is more expensive.

Why on earth have they changed a system that was working so well, with something that is ripping off both sellers and buyers alike, the latter also being charged with extra "buyer protection"?

I was just about to give you instructions on how to set your weights and dimensions in bulk edit and decided to check to make sure i gave the correct information - blow me down - they have removed it !!! i am absolutely gobsmacked as that was the only place you could actually add the size of your package and specific weight of your package and then i also used to add large letter under 100gr.

90% of what i sell is large letter under 100gr and also less than £10 - i shall use my current listings and just sell similar because i went through all of my current listings in Apr and actually added all of the details weights, size etc - I will see what happens when they all end and auto relist at end of the month.

Yes I have stopped selling letter/large letter sized items on ebay too, It has just become unviable for small cost, letter sized items.

Even without the nightmare ebay system it had started to become a nightmare, as Royal Mail just do not want to post letter sized items nowadays, Items were taking up to 10 days to arrive and my eBay customers obviously not happy about lateness of their items.

In custom postage you can chose what you like and charge what you like

if it defaults to a certain price you can change if

Surprise surprise it's now 20 May and ebay haven't reinstated Royal Mail Small Parcel option in Simple Delivery as stated in their communication a couple of weeks ago. They are now blaming Royal Mail for not updating the ebay platform. What utter bull*bleep* as Royal Mail wouldn't be able and should not be able to have access to update system changes in Ebay. Ebay is clearly now run by a bunch of imcompetant staff and Customer Services are equally clueless and continue to spew out lie after lie.

all parcels have jumped to medium parcel prices eBay's not over charging , all new and old listing which are no SD have gone up and no small parcel option ? A holes

I've just shut my shop for 2 weeks and fingers crossed when i get back ebay will have registered the error of their ways and set their system back to useable for both us sellers and buyers.

Currently large latter, under £10 and also under 100gr I can still list by clicking custom postage and putting large letter but in the bulk edit tool they have completely removed the ability to add the correct dimension sizes and weights, so i will continue to use my old listings and just sell similar and fingers crossed that way the original dimensions, weights etc will still be there.

I am just gobsmacked at the lack of diligence and transparencey - I can still post cheaper using royal mail on line than i can from ebay - why ???? ebay have supposedly done a deal with RM to make shipping cheaper for sellers

Small parcel has still not been implemented - i do sell small parcel size hand made items and i can post them for £3.45 tracked with RM on line.

currently not actually used 'simple delivery' I don't have a smart phone and don't want one and also i use normal written address labels and take them to post office or have them collected - who pays for the large shipping labels that will obviosuly have to be used for simple delivery shipping ???

i think it's a case of watch for developments or face plants !!!

Not only is there no small parcel change as promised but the prices for small parcel which were included under max medium parcel size are now 3.64 (up 20p) for 0-1kg (a few pence might be forgiven here) and 1-2kg is now 5.15 which is a MEDIUM PARCEL CHARGE

at least on listing an item

If it’s  different on checkout (ie those prices are a glitch)  I have no idea

Just checked one of my Auctions and what was £3.44 is now £5.15 ??? a holes six weeks of one big mess oh no need to do anything to listing ,my @ (no small parcel so you cant anyway !!

You couldn't make this stuff up! Comedy Gold, although it would be funny if it wasn't impacting the buyers by ebay overcharging them postage on top of BPF. Funny how ebay implement numerous system enhancements but can't fix the things that are currently broken and their customer services have obviously been briefed to lie rather than being honest with their customers. Stinks of them with no intention of actually fixing the Simple Delivery issues as they see it as a back door money spinner. Bunch of imcompetant crooks and no doubt the CEO will take a big bonus this year.

If you still Use Custom Postage Or At Post Office SP Tracked 48 is  still £3.45 !!

still no small parcel potion for me but did a relist similar and the price is £3.38 ?? oh now got small parcels its £3.38

Ebay also promised a saving to the buyers of up to 20% on postage. Can't see that on any of the RM options.

Just a reminder that existing items that were listed on RM Medium parcel will need to be amended back to Small Parcels if the parcel size should be Small Parcel, otherwise the buyers will be charged at the Medium parcel higher rate. Glad to see ebay are slowly correcting their errors that we've been telling them for the past couple of months. No need to thank us ebay. You take all the credit for correcting your errors
