Royal Mail collection potential fraud

It is clear that Royal Mail can "scan" your collection items without actually collecting them. I had a failed collection followed up by an email claiming successful collection (evidently fraudulent on RM's part). In the event the collection is actually made, these items are now fair game for the unscrupulous. The fact that RM customer service could not tell me what compensation I could expect for the failed collection (refund of 30p fee plus free collection) and told me the local delivery office manager would "reach out to you" and be responsible for compensation gives me little faith that the issue can be rectified in an honest and timely fashion. The new interim RM CEO may only have been in place a fortnight, but he will have this one on his desk before his third week is done.

Re: Royal Mail collection potential fraud

I had the same thing a couple of weeks ago.  I could easily have waited a while and claimed against Royal Mail (or e-Bay on Simple Delivery) that they had lost the item even though I'd still got it.

Luckily I had another parcel to go the next day so they both went together.  My thoroughly decent postman could offer no explanation and said my address hadn't been on his list the previous day.
