I have to ask Why??

Re: Prices that Ebay charge ??

When you buy postage on ebay they offer cheaper prices than you can buy at your post office.   If you prefer to buy the postage yourself (and keep post offices going) you should opt out of ebay's "simple delivery" during the listing process via the options menu icon on the right of the postage section.

Re: Prices that Ebay charge ??

If I could copy the other rates from ebay you would see what I mean - for example

Tracked 48 | Drop-off from £3.39 - is only 2.70 if i use the other tool on ebay

Re: Prices that Ebay charge ??

You are not comparing like for like - the prices you quote are for :

Large letter RM48  750g  - £2.70

Small Parcel RM48 2kg   - £3.39

follow this link to RM online pricing

Re: Prices that Ebay charge ??

The large letter via RM @2.70 I can send singles as the wight is nowhere near 750g and is also on ebay with the dimensions which is well within the peramiters given.

Same as next day delivery before 1pm - is only 7.00 on ebay - but on the ebay hub its 9.75

I want to understand why such a difference in rate

Re: Prices that Ebay charge ??

The two prices are for different sizes and weights of packages / parcels, Have you entered the package dimensions and weight for ebay to calculate when listing - if not small parcel is being preselected based on data for other similar listings on ebay  on one and you are choosing large letter on the other.

Royal Mail 1st Class Large Letter up to 100g is £2.50 on both Royal Mail (royalmail.com) and eBay at time of writing - the same price. It's an extra £0.10 if using stamps from Royal Mail / Post office / supermarkets.

Regarding:

and

Which tools are you talking about? I'm not sure about eBay vs eBay Hub. Maybe you can take a screenshot (and mask out personal details of you and the buyer)

You might be looking at Simple Delivery ? If so, remember that is more than just the postage, but including full seller protection etc. As someone as mentioned, you can opt out.

Re: Prices that Ebay charge ??

The £2.50 is for 1st class large letter no tracking, the £2.70 is for RM48 tracked -  this is why there is a difference in price - different classes of post - not sure why you are getting so confused ?

The buyer selected 1st class no tracking hence the price of £2.50
