I posted and item to a buyer recently by royal mail on ebay however it says that i still need to post it, but when i use the tracking number and go on the royal mail website it says that " An update will only be provided when we attempt to deliver your item. This service only provides delivery confirmation and delivery hasn't yet been attempted." What should i do? I'm scared that the item was lost or wasn't signed in when posted

There won't be any deliveries today being a Sunday. If for the 2 items sold on Friday they would not have reached their destination yet with the postal service you selected, earliest will be tomorrow or Tuesday.
Disregard eBay's tracking notification it's always slow to update.
Royal Mail's Track & Trace is the one to go by, and it just states the item hasn't been delivered yet.
If you haven't so already finalise transactions this way:
You need to finalise the transaction now only on the Seller Hub here:
Add the tracking number there too.
Once Royal Mail confirm delivery you money should be released within a few days, if it is currently being held for new or returning seller purposes.

That is the correct message if you used delivery confirmation
It won't update until the parcel is delivered (and if the postie scans the POD!)

Hi! Thank you for replacing. Unfortunately I did not post in on Friday but on Tuesday, that's why I'm a bit worried

Have you checked the tracking on the RM site?
It might be delivered on Monday
If there is no proof of delivery then you can claim for loss of the item from RM after refunding the buyer
Or you may find it was delivered, postie forgot to sign the POD, and buyer is happy and isn't going to open a case anyway.
Not all buyers are scammers!

I'm a bit scared to ask the buyer if he has received the item, because if he/she didn't he/she might be suspicious or stress about it. I'll see if is delivered tomorrow. If not, I'll have no choice but to ask the buyer. Thank you

And yes I did check on the royal mail site, it wont tell me anything other than "An update will only be provided when we attempt to deliver your item. "

Do NOT contact the buyer!
If you do, you invite a scam case for item not recieved
Just leave the buyer alone, they will contact you if the item does not arrive
Don't point out to them that you have no defence against an item not received case and would be forced to refund even if they have received the item!!
Messages chasing up delivery confirmation from sellers also annoy me, so I do not recommend contacting the buyer!

Thank you so much! Fingers cross it arrives tomorrow. If not I'll just wait till the buyer messages me. Hope I don't have to deal with Royal Mail they are known to have horrible customer service

What is most likely is that the buyer already has the item, and that the postie forgot to scan it. Happens a lot.
It may never show delivery confirmation
This doesn't mean it hasn't been delivered!

Sorry I didn't know which items you were referring to and just thought it might be the last few you sold on the Friday.
Definitely do not contact the buyer as @myriad*seller explains. Your buyer will soon let you know if the item hasn't been delivered.
The notification you received from RM's website, means it has not been delivered yet, which doesn't mean it won't be, there's always Monday or Tuesday, and RM in some areas have had quite long delays.
Just hold on and act, if and when the buyer does.

Yeah I thought that aswell, that's why I'm checking if the buyer leaves a positive review, which tells me that they have received it. Its my way to confirm delivery when ebay fails to tell me the item has been delivered.
I wouldn't usually worry, but the thing is if the item has not been delivered the buyer is probably thinking that I haven't posted it, because ebay doesn't update the tracking and doesn't show I posted it

Thank you very much!

To be honest, what with eBay's constant tampering with the site functions, one of which has recently been to change the feedback to ask the buyer to rate the item, as opposed to rating the transaction, a lot of buyers now don't even bother to leave feedback at all given that eBay have made what was previously such a simple matter far more complicated than it even needs to be. Therefore, in the event that the buyer doesn't leave you any feedback don't stress about it too much - just remember that if the buyer felt that he/she had a justifiable reason to complain about the transaction then he/she would more than likely have made contact about the issue pretty quickly! If you don't hear back from the buyer, whether in the form of an eBay message about an issue with the order, an eBay case or via feedback left, then I'd say it's safe to assume that the buyer received the item and was happy with it, but just didn't feel inclined to leave feedback.

In fact, as a buyer, I am like this. I buy a lot of things for them and they are very satisfied, but I often forget to review them. Sometimes when I think of it, I find that it has expired 😅.
