NO LONGER ALLOWED TO POST ANYTHING OVER 61CM LONG- WHY EBAY?
just got off the phone to customer service agent-
the powers be have now removed custom posting and although evri, a designated ebay sd courier, allow a max of 120cm, ebay say no.
this will curtail many such as those selling fishing, drain rods or curtain track.
perhaps this just applies to private sellers!
be interesting to hear if business sellers get different treatment.
back to being a really unpleasant seller experience

You are supposed to be able to opt out of SD for large items but it isn't working at the moment. However, see the workaround solution on here:

Simple Delivery is now mandatory for Private sellers.
There is currently, an issue with oversize and lightweight items which both should have Custom Postage available as these items are exempt from SD, and Custom Postage is just not showing as that option.
There is a workaround which works.
From the link below Go To Solution and see Rick's answer.

thanks, but i feel there is no work around. If item sells there is a clear message along the lines of to avoid extra fees being taken ensure your parcel is withing the stated 61x46x46cm. Custom, told about 20 mins ago, applies to jewellery only under a tenner.
I am no trader, i dont hunt for goodies and sell on here. selling my own, and now my late mum's goods as i have to downsize.
i guess the objective is to force all to become a business
the site has again become a really nasty experience.

Everyone who has tried ' Rick's Answer and Solution' has come back to say Thank You, and confirmed the workaround does work. A faff, yes, but it does work.
Why do you not wish to try it?

So choose Evri only and you're OK, providing the item weighs less than 15kg.
The warning you report is for Royal Mail and maybe it shows if you have either selected or is yet another bug and it shows when it shouldn't.
Customer Services are well-known for talking cobblers.

Hi, thanks,
perhaps a difference in operating system, I am using a pc, others may be using app!
i note the date of ricks as 1/ 7 /. 25.
my chat with ebay was today, 23rd.
none of what rick shows appears in my list an item.
I have no option to choose any weights, its just letter, small parcel or medium.
I have no option to select despatch time as in blue banner up on listing page this from ebay
"this listing has been updated to be posted with Simple Deliver. Your dispatch time is now 2 days"
the same info is in both evri and royal mail as opted out of each to see.
Ebay control it all.
I have removed all my items over 600mm, switch back to other platforms where I can use evri and the 120cm parcel length.
As i say, a really unpleasant seller experience.

thanks but new rules by ebay for private sellers, that just may still apply to business sellers.

hi, quote -Simple Delivery is now mandatory for Private sellers.
I like the sd system, it is easier, quicker and works fine for me.
Ebay have changed the rules on sizes, time will tell on what sellers will do.
23-07-2025 3:31 PM
isnt working at moment! This has been a calculating move by ebay, will it ever be working again, NA
23-07-2025 3:37 PM
I dont think for moment I was the only person to a message from ebay when they rolled out the SD,
the message was " we are listening"
BOVINE MANURE,
how many end users emailed them saying - ooh please scrap the 120cm parcel length?
23-07-2025 4:45 PM
Follow my workaround EXACTLY. It is still working - just checked.

I AM a Private Seller. Simple Delivery doesn't apply at all to Business Sellers who still have to sort it out for themselves, pay for extra insurance if needed and refund Buyers whose purchases get lost or damaged and hope they'll get compensation from the carriers.
My preference is for Royal Mail and so far I haven't had cause to send anything too big for them. If I did I'd proceed as I said above.
It's difficult to give you any better advise as you haven't said what it is you are trying to sell. Under Simple Delivery e-Bay estimate the size and weight of the item and providing you don't over-rule that it doesn't matter if it's inadequate providing it is within the overall limits set by Royal Mail or Evri as shown above. I've sent several things that are over weight/size with no problems to me or the Buyers. One they estimated as a 2kg Small Parcel when the item itself weighed 2.5kg and by the time it was packed it was Medium Parcel size.

Ebay have teamed up with just two couriers, Evri and royal mail.
Both those providers offer home collection and a limit on length which with evri is 120cm.
Why then have ebay taken to scrap home collection and now the 120cm?
I dare say many relied on home collection!
incorrect size does matter, many a time ebay have estimated 2kg for my item and when packaged the item is under 1kg. The difference is a cost to buyer which ebay pocket. Under size the the message i get is clear, funds will be taken from your account.
I have removed all my items over 610mm and placed on free to use marketplaces, ebay will lose sellers.
23-07-2025 6:37 PM
the drop menus you show are not offered to me on my list an item page.
what are you using, phone as, as said, i am on a pc.
all i get, after pressing arow in package size, is the page enclosed, and applies to both rm and evri.
i have just removed all my items over 600mm and listed on free to use marketplaces. the greater loss is not mine.
23-07-2025 7:24 PM
If you over-rule the e-Bay estimate and get it wrong, yes you will be charged the difference plus £1. If you accept the estimate they will honour it. If you think I'm making it up see: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/postage/simple-delivery
You have a point about not being able to arrange Evri collections, though on the last three occasions I have done so they haven't turned-up, but e-Bay have NOT removed the 120cm limit for packages sent by them. On the other hand you can arrange a Royal Mail collection via e-Bay for free whereas it's 30p on the RM web-site.
23-07-2025 7:34 PM
I am on a pc.
I don't know how many different ways I can say this - follow my workaround exactly, step by step, do not shortcut the steps.
I have just checked yet again and it is still working OK.
23-07-2025 7:49 PM
On your screenshot the darker line isn't at the bottom (see my arrow). Can you push it to bottom, it should show heavier sizes.
23-07-2025 7:52 PM
Seen my mistake, sorry, it's bigger size not heavier that you are looking for.
23-07-2025 8:33 PM
the weight is not the issue, its the 610mm.
no matter what weight you pick there is no allowance for 610mm!
