I sold an item late on Friday night, I wanted to get the item to the buyer as quick as possible so arranged a Tracked 48 collection for Saturday morning.
Yesterday the post postman came to collect it just before 9 - brilliant.
20 minutes later I came onto eBay to enter the tracking number and tell the buyer it has been collected but realised I had an email from Royal Mail.
"Unable to fulfil collection as the parcel was not available when we called"
The tracking on the website says: "we're expecting it"
I think this particular postman has made a genuine mistake as he's always friendly when delivering, a few months ago he marked one as 'delivered' rather than 'collected' which left me with an angry buyer thinking I had scammed them for a massive £4.50, that item did arrive though.
I was thinking the tracking would update over night as it goes through the Royal Mail network but as of yet nothing has changed.
As a rule of thumb I never type the tracking number into eBay until the item has actually been sent, nothing worse than getting an email to say an item has been dispatched and then checking the tracking 5 days later to see the seller had only taken it to the parcel shop yesterday.
Anyone else had this issue?
Not sure if I should wait and see if the tracking updates tomorrow morning? or email Royal Mail now?
I haven't added the tracking number into eBay yet as was hoping the tracking would resolve itself,
This wouldn't be so bad if Royal Mail gave a receipt or card when they collect items from your house... that way I could show the buyer that the item has been sent, here is the proof,
Now I have no item... and no proof it was collected... just an email saying the parcel wasn't available.

It will probably be scanned again at the sorting office tomorrow. Enter the tracking number and keep an eye on it. I wouldn't worry yet.

Still no change with the tracking, the guy at the Post Office told me that it should correct itself, in theory it should be being delivered tomorrow.

This has just happened to me today. Was worrying I may have been scammed, as it was not my usual postie who collected it. She said her scanner gun was 'on the blink' and she would sort it later. Almost 11 hours later, still not scanned and have received the same message as you, that the parcel was not available for collection. Just wondering if you have managed to sort your problem with this? Thanks!

I posted an item at the post office tracked 48 with signature cost £5.35 on 27 January just prior to the changes so I have received the funds £115. The tracking has never updated still says "Were expecting it" on RM website tracking. The item has been delivered as feedback has been left. I made an official complaint to RM on 17 Feb about this and about 3 other missing tracking details, which are subject to the new payments pending and have not yet received a response. Its really disheartening all these problems are beyond sellers control. Whether a byer or a seller, ebay would not exist without either and they really need to review their recent changes as I fear ebay will disappear, which is a shame.

I am a seller and having difficulties with tracking. Ebay are saying the tracking number on one of my listings is incorrect.
I've double and triple checked and it isn't
They are refusing to show my item as delivered even though the buyer has confirmed this
I think they want us all to send by Evri and are finding ways to put obstacles in our path. When you list an item and get to delivery you are sign posted to Evri
Do you know if there is anyway of sending them a photo of the certificate of posting?

I dont think they take any notice of official complaints. They just send you a message saying complaint closed without any consultation.
I am really shocked how badly ebay treats its long time sellers with 100% positive feedback

This happened to me too but I had put an o in the tracking number instead of a 0, it never did update and I couldn’t change it . Nightmare. Good luck

I had this and eBay helped me, talked me through how to change the tracking number,
it can be done but not through the app, you have to open eBay on the web instead
