Global shipping - Buyer gave wrong address

Hello,

I sold an item to Canada, using eBay global shipping.

First I get a message from the buyer asking if I could use a courier, due to the postage strikes. I use global shipping, so no idea what service they use in Canada.

Before I get a chance to reply they send another message saying they had used the wrong shipping address, but have updated it now.

So does anyone know what service eBay use in Canada?

Or if a buyer can alter the shipping address with them, once an order has been placed?

I suspect I may have to message them and suggest cancelling the order if I can't guarantee it will be delivered to the right place. Or not get stuck in a Canadian post mountain.

Thanks in advance for any replies

The buyer can't change the shipping address once they've gone through checkout, if you haven't posted the item yet it would be best to cancel, however you would be covered had you posted to the GSP hub.

I assume the buyer has changed their stored delivery address within ebay - that however won't have any impact on the addresses on already placed orders.

If you have already shipped it, there's nothing you can do - fortunately, if it does get lost (which I assume the buyer will claim) you'll be OK as ebay cover it once it gets past the global shipping point.

Not a clue who GSP would use in Canada. Pitney Bowes manage it all for ebay - but there's nothign to state which service is used.

Maybe send them a copy of Ebay's statement regarding GSP postage to Canada. It may put their mind at rest.

'Due to the ongoing Canada Post strike, Royal Mail has suspended all postal exports to Canada. As a result, shipments to Canada cannot be created until further notice. The eBay Global Shipping Program is not impacted and will continue to deliver to buyers in Canada.'

Thanks for your replies.

Luckily I haven't posted it yet. I was due to this morning, then saw the emails from the buyer.

It's probably best to cancel the order.

They may want to try buying it again, with the correct address. I will send them the information about GSP and Canada post.
