Why the heck has eBay changed the payment rules yet again? Are they trying to mimic another selling site with the same unfair policies?
After reading some comments on this subject, one reply to a member, who stated that they couldn't afford to fork out postage costs and wait until their parcel had been delivered before receiving payment (which I totally agree with), was "if that strapped for cash then really shouldn't be selling on eBay". What nonsense! In that case one wold just take items to a charity shop or bin them! The whole point of selling on eBay, I thought, was to make a bit of money, if financially well off then why bother?
I was about to start listing items for sale again, I'm trying to clear out my life of possessions because Yes, I do need the money and also because I'd like to make life a little easier for my family to cope with when I pop my clogs! I also donated a percentage of sales to charities that I think are very worthwhile but undervalued , and in need of help.
I'm really disappointed with eBay, the new rules, I think are going to affect lots of members and most likely eBay's reputation and profits too!

Add me to the stop selling on eBay crew , these payment rules are the latest in many reasons why I have migrated away. Expecting a seller to send items without payment with the very real threat of " it hasn't arrived " malarky is so stupid
Honestly it's like eBay don't realise that they have no business model without sellers .

I just want my money so i can close my account.
Its a joke.. they are holdingj ust under £400 for me.. my buyers have received the goods, left me positive feedback and even sent me photos of the goods fitted to there cars!! but stilll Ebay havent paid me a penny! and it still says not delivered in the sellers panel!
Absolute joke!
Its disgusting!

i guess to make things free for the private seller is they will do the following
1. Make you listings fall off the front page
2. Encourage you to promote
3. Sit only your money for a few days (day 1-2 pre dispatch, 2-3 days del + 2 day wait)
4. Charge the buyer a protection fee.
I have had to resort to next day deliveries to get things moving quicker. Simply not working for me and will resort on giving up ebay eventually. Not going to do a business account as I do not want my home address spewed all over ebay. Just a real shame

Ebay are holding funds for longer even if tracking from royal mail ,evri ,etc says item has been delivered ,ebays tracking isn't in sinc so their tracking often says that the seller hasn't dispatched the item ,despite proper tracking providers saying they have ,so we are not receiving our funds 2 days after delivery because according to ebay the item hasn't been delivered . It is happening to lots of people too and ebays tracking has been out of sinc for months but people are noticing now because of the new payment rule and funds aren't being paid out .

Totally agree with these comments.
How often do things ACTUALLY get updated with delivered? Not that often even with a tracked delivery service.
How often to buyers actually complete any kind of feedback at all - probably about 50% of the time - tops!
This coupled with the equally stupid rules about 'Buyer Protection Fees', which basically totally screw up any kind of pricing ideas you have by increasing your buy it now price by over a quid or more, even on low value stuff!
Ebay seem to be in the habit these days of making it harder and harder for a private seller to operate, whilst at the same time constantly advertising that it is 'free' to sell now.
For me, this is just extra cash, if it sells, it sells, but for anyone trying to make a second income out of this mess, you have my deepest sympathy.
Is there any point anymore Ebay - well no, not really!

Exactly
This is why I've deleted all my items and will sell elsewhere until they change it back
Hopefully if enough people leave them they might
27-02-2025 5:56 PM
Exactly I'm same
So I've just deleted all items and refuse to sell until they change this ridiculous system
27-02-2025 5:58 PM
Me too, I'm in that position right now as tbh hadn't realised it had changed till I just sold something
I don't sell often and so for the small amount I do I expect to get the money as soon as sold and I post
So I've deleted all my items
27-02-2025 6:01 PM
Also the person buying has paid on their end straight away so technically the money should be paid straight to us, I get they need to make money so why couldn't they take a fee and pay straight away
Royal mail are useless, I paid signed for before Christmas and they never updated it just kept saying we have it
So how would you get a pay out in that circumstances
27-02-2025 6:02 PM
Exactly I think they will have lots of people leaving as I now have already
They will not get another penny from me
27-02-2025 6:06 PM
I made the mistake of not realising this was happening and sent my last item off as usual small item as second class, as tbh eBay still give you the option to do why? They know then there is no way of tracking the item so looks like I will never get paid
That's why I've deleted all items and won't sell
I guess my own fault for not keeping up to date on whats going on
28-02-2025 2:34 AM
i was always sending my items royal mail first class then adding the tracking details but numerous times i was receiving positive feedback even though the parcel on tracking was still waiting to be delivered....."Royal mail are terrible for not updating there tracking" and so i questioned ebay on this matter stating the buyer obviously has the item as i have received positive feedback and to be truthful they really couldn't care less at ebay as there reply was that the funds will only be released in the 48 hour timeframe if the tracking states delivered if not then it s up to 2 weeks before the funds clear even though i received the positive feedback according to ebay that is not concrete proof that the item has indeed been delivered and well sorry ebay but you are going to lose a lot i mean a lot of very loyal customers because this new payment option is flawed extremely flawed as i now had to upgrade the tracking to royal mail tracked 24 on which buyers now have to pay extra postage and buyer protection and so its affecting sales for lots of sellers on ebay as items are now overpriced because of this new payment system and i for one will stop listing items on ebay as there are plenty more alternatives
28-02-2025 6:53 AM
i know many people dont like them but i use Evri. To get the funds quicker i do next day as well.
you are then at the mercy of the delivery co. sent monday, money by friday
28-02-2025 9:57 PM
I have had enough myself it's too risky for the seller sending expensive items knowing the money is on hold, then the buyer could just decide to return the item with a brick in the box, looks like I'll just sell on Facebook, eBay obviously does not care for UK private sellers so I'll take my sales elsewhere.

Vinted is no better than the new ebay system ebays copied off of vinted lol
The proof of the pudding is if eBay do more for buyers than vinted do if there’s a problem
Vinted make buyers pay for return postage if item isn’t as described which INCLUDES being sent the wrong thing ie a kids toy instead of a jumper
ie vinteds buyers ALWAYS pay for any return for whatever reason
It’s in the terms and conditions
28-02-2025 10:38 PM
Trust pilot is full of reviews about ebay a lot of people leaving or gone

In the past 6 years, the blocked buyer's list just expanding day by day sadly.
It's just getting too much.
Even the style how they are contacting you and such... you can feel it's going to be an INR case soon.
All this garbage, on top of it.... well..... it's time to find out Amazon, and other way's to sell.
