Payment confirmed?

Hi all, I’ve just sold something on eBay (something I’ve not done for YEARS!) and I’m a little rusty on how it works.

I’ve had an email from eBay entitled ‘you’ve been paid’ which says the buyer “has confirmed payment”. No payment is showing in eBay, PayPal or my bank.

What does ‘confirmed payment’ mean, if not that money has actually been sent?

Thanks

Payment confirmed?

If eBay have informed you the buyer has paid,  then the buyer has paid ,  so you do now need to post the item to the name and address eBay provided on the order details for the item.

As a returning seller,  eBay need to see proof that the item has been delivered,  a dormant account suddenly used for selling , raises red flags to eBay,  as it could be a sign the account is hijacked,  so a hold is placed for security measures on the payout,  until tracking shows delivery.

Also,  there have been Big changes on eBay.  PayPal no longer used for receiving payout from sales,  eBay Manage Payments now and all sellers have to register for this to receive payouts from sales.

See here:

You need to provide eBay with details of a bank account and have this account verified.  The usual method here, is for eBay to send 2 micro deposits into that nominated bank account for you to receive,  and confirm to eBay.

Once this is completed,  you will be able to list items for sale,  and receive payouts from those sales.

This will show you how to register for eBay's Managed Payments.

If there is an issue with the registration contact eBay Customer Services,  who have full access to your account,  and can see where the issue lies and explain the steps you now need to take.

Contact them this way.

This is the easiest and quicket way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Lines open between 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays.

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.

I recommend contacting CS very first thing in the morning, when the lines first open,  as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

Payment confirmed?

Thanks for the reply.

it’s being collected so no need to post. But I would like to see the money somewhere before I hand over the items.

my bank account is set up and verified. Last time I sold, the money showed as eBay funds first. There is literally nothing, anywhere, this time.

Payment confirmed?

It should show up as buyer paid - dispatch or arrange collection... in  your orders which is located on the left hand side, have a look there... then if you go to selling, under that it should say payments if you click on that it should show you.

I think you need a code for collection now? Unsure as removed my collections since the changes.

Payment confirmed?

Be careful, do not rely on email notifications as scammers can send out convincing "you've been paid emails"

Does it show as paid in your seller/transaction page?

Payment confirmed?

Make sure the message Buyer has Paid has come through eBay messages.

As this is a collection item, now payment has been made, you can exchange contact details.  I would add in the message to remind the buyer that they have to bring along the collection code,  as you cannot release the item to them without the code.  That code is the only proof you'll have,  that the item has been collected.

Cash on collection is not allowed now, so after payment through eBay checkout,  the buyer receives via an email from eBay, that all important code. You either scan this or enter manually , when they come to collect.

Ensure you have registered for eBay's Managed payments as described in my link above, essential too for receiving payouts from sales.
