Low payout

Hiya,

I'm a new seller on here, and I am struggling with payouts at the moment. I sold an item, and after all fees and postage, it came to £36.87, yet eBay's payout to me for that sale is £34.14. Why is this? Why am I being underpaid? Not only am I losing near enough £10 of what the buyer paid due to postage and all the fees, but I am now losing another 2 quid or so for them sending it to my account? It's just puzzling. Please can someone help me, or give me advice, I will have to start selling elsewhere otherwise. This fault is not only a one time thing too, I am aware of another payment being lower than what I was told I was going to receive.

Low payout

I sold a private number plate on eBay for £200.00 and only received £170.00. I would've liked a breakdown of charges but couldn't see how to do this.

Hi there,
If you look under My ebay, (on the task bar next to Home icon), then click on Selling, then click on Sold. you will see all the pictures of the items you sold, with most recent one at the top.
Click on the photo of the item you sold, then scroll down the page to see how Ebay worked out your payment.

Hope that helps !

Hi silvermbgames, thanks for your reply.

If you go to the transaction in question or the payments section of your eBay account, you can see the fees breakdown of your transaction. If fees shows 0, then you weren't charged for fees, and the reason why you didn't receive the funds you were expecting could be related to outstanding shipping labels, which is the most common reason, for example. For this, I'd suggest checking your payment section in full, you will see it all there. There you can see if funds were deducted due to a shipping label, or a case that was opened and you had to refund, etc.

Thank you,

Marco

I’m having the same issue, however, I made £22 and have only received £8 which is ridiculous. This can’t all be fees

I have the same problem! We all are having sort of the same problem here we are definitely underpaid by ebay, and you are not helping at all! Saying the same thing all over again to check our breakdowns. Do you think we didn’t check at the first place?? We did and it isn’t correct! That’s why we are here asking for explanations! If I am selling an item for £10 on ebay and my item has to be sold with a postage on the buyer not me! And I am not promoting my item there should be no fee whatsoever as selling on ebay is free for sellers! So I should get my £10 for that item. Everything else should be paid by the buyer! But I’m not getting that bloody £10 can you explain why?? All my items postage fee has to be paid by the buyer and I’m not promoting my items. And selling on ebay is free! So what fees are we talking about here?

I’m in the same boat..!!..this is becoming ridiculous, I’m short of £100’s of pounds and can’t seem to figure why/ where this has gone, sold an item for £435, with all eBay fees and deductions I should be getting £359, why was my payout only £310..!!!.

You sold some very high value items did you by chance have reserve prices on any?  Reserves are optional listing upgrades,  and they're the most expensive to use.  They cost a non refundable 4% of your set reserve,  these listing fees are non refundable and payable sale or no sale.

You have also sold Brand New identical laptops ?  Do you have more than one for sale,  or is it the same one listed with buyers non paying ?

Be aware if you are selling all Brand New items you need to register for a Business Account.  The account you are using a Private account,  is one for selling second hand used, unwanted items,  such as a garage / attic/ wardrobe clear out.

This shows you how to change your account to the correct one:

  1. Go to Account settings in My eBay.
  2. Select Personal information
  3. Select Edit next to Account type. You may be asked to sign in again.
  4. Select Confirm to upgrade to a Business account.
  5. Specify whether you operate your business as a legal entity or as a sole proprietor and select Continue.
  6. On the following page, enter your business information such as name, contact information, and returns policy. Then select Save.

Probably best to use a PC / laptop for this,  and not the app or mobile browser.  Chrome seems to work best on eBay.
