Asked to Update Bank Information, eBay Unable to Update Bank Information

I just sold something on eBay for the first time in a few months, and was sent an email telling me I needed to update my bank information.

I don't believe I should even need to do this, but whatever. So I went through the process of updating my bank information. Logged into my bank through eBay and verified my information.

I ticked the "I'm the owner of the account..." box and clicked Save, and was immediately presented with the error "We couldn't verify your updated details. Please review them and try again" in a nice big, red banner.

Tried several times, but it failed every time. eBay is refusing to save my updated bank details. They have MY money, and I can't withdraw it because they can't (or WON'T) update my bank details that have been valid for YEARS!

I tried the other method of eBay depositing two small microdeposits in my account, and verifying that way... which can take up to 3-5 business days... how convenient for them! I feel like eBay REALLY don't want to give you your money.

I now have to send off the item I sold, without even knowing how long it'll take before I can withdraw MY money. Which I'm definitely not happy about.

Has anyone else encountered this problem when trying to update and save your bank details? And if so, did you manage to fix it? Or did you have use other mthods?

Asked to Update Bank Information, eBay Unable to Update Bank Information

It's only been two months since my last sale, which was back in September, and my bank details were working fine then, I was able to withdraw funds without a problem.

Not sure why, or how, a problem has arisen with my bank in those two months though. My bank account details are still valid and up-to-date. Nothing has changed since my last sale.

And for some reason, when I started to go through eBay Live Chat (which was closed at the time) it mentioned something about being a new seller, which I'm not. So that was confusing.

Having a break of 2 months , eBay may see you as a ' new' seller.

There seems to be some issue with the verification of your bank account so access to your eBay account is needed and for that you need Customer Services .

I strongly recommend contacting CS first thing when the line open for ' live agents'  which is 9 a.m. on weekends and 8 a.m. on weekdays,  as then,  there's more chance of Dublin answering.

Only speak to them,  it's a Call Back option,  so you'll hear if it's the dulcet tones from the Emerald Isles.

This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Lines open 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays

9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on weekends.

Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.

As said,  I recommend contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

Wait, so not selling for as little as two months could potentially cause eBay to see you as a new seller, despite the clear feedback on my account? That seems like a problem that shouldn't exist. I've gone months and months in the past without a sale, and never had an issue with bank details.

Also, I got in contact with Customer Support this morning, after 9am. They can't do anything since I've already initiated the microdeposits, and have to wait 3-5 working days before they arrive. Outside of that, they said there's nothing they can do on their end.

And I think there's a problem with the live chat. Every time the chat ends, I get this:

"Something went wrong. Please try again later. You can also get more info searching online help."

Someone might want to fix that.
