If you used ebay supplied label, it marks as posted when you down load label or take to drop off store.

As advised,  if you used Simple Delivery then triggering the postage label, immediately marks it as dispatched.

If you didn't use a SD label but your own postage,  you cannot now add any new tracking,   eBay suggest sending the buyer a message with those tracking details.  If a case is opened later for item not received,   you will be able to add those tracking details.

A refund is sent to whoever paid for the SD label:

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.

A Private account the one you are using, is for selling unwanted used items, e.g. a wardrobe / garage clear out.    If you wish to continue selling all Brand new items you should be on a Business account, and then Simple Delivery does not apply,  you can use your own postage and manually mark as dispatched.

It's easy to change your account,  to be correctly registered:

  1. Go to Account settings in My eBay.
  2. Select Personal information
  3. Select Edit next to Account type. You may be asked to sign in again.
  4. Select Confirm to upgrade to a Business account.
  5. Specify whether you operate your business as a legal entity or as a sole proprietor and select Continue.
  6. On the following page, enter your business information such as name, contact information, and returns policy. Then select Save.

Probably best to use a PC / laptop for this,  and not the app or mobile browser.  Chrome seems to work best on eBay.

I do not see why I should use e-bays labels when I am perfectly capable of posting an item my way.

It's mandatory for Private sellers to use eBay's Simple Delivery system.

Some items are not eligible for SD,  so Custom Postage can be used here.

If you use Custom postage for all your items,  your payouts will be held for a minimum of 14 days, and your tracking cannot be added,  but could be used later if needed,  for any item not received case.

For information on when money is released read below, you still have to withdraw to bank,  or ebay will pay out quarterly on first Tuesday in Jan. Apl. July, October. I believe some information on release and payment has not been updated

Hi John,

Why did you tell me about money being released when my problem is the fact I cannot mark my item as dispatched is it so difficult to get a straight answer out of anyone? Oh and as a by-the-way do you know that your simple delivery prices are more than the post office postage and that means you are over charging people for postage why? You say a payment of a minimum of £3.38 for postage the post office says £2 I asked them. Is this legal?

If you use SD & select buyer pays, then it gives you more protection and money released earlier to your ebay account.

Buyer pays postage & you get link to print label, so don't have to worry about cost.

When you either print label or take code to PO/Parcel shop, ebay automatically mark as dispatched.
