selling

Hi,

I am having no luck trying to talk to anyone from eBay so I hoped talking to the Community might help. I regularly used to sell items on eBay and send any funds to Charities. I have not sold any items for months. Upon checking the listing prices of my items I noticed that they had been increased.  I thought this was an error until I realised buyer protection had been added. I'm confused as I thought buyers always had protection, and especially when items were sent tracked. Is this now buyer protection on top of buyer protection? I list my items for sale at what I think is a fair price only to have this increased by eBay as soon as it is listed. I believe this has killed any interest in my items. No sales, no funds for me or eBay. It's a lose/lose scenario. Can buyer protection not be added separately to the listing price? I would actually rather go back to paying a percentage of the sale price. At least I sold items then. It is advertised as being free to list on eBay but actually to try and attract interest in items you would have to reduce the selling price to accommodate eBay bumping the price up with buyer protection. What is the point of it being free to sell if you cannot attract any sales?

As all your items are new, regardless of being for charity, you should upgrade to business seller.

When done so, BP will not apply to you.

Re: selling

It has certainly hit many sellers,  especially those selling low value items.

Join in the many long discussions on this subject on the forum, many spirited debates !

Re: selling

Your listings do not mention anything about donating to charity.

Re: selling

There is a proper procedure, on the listing form  at the bottom for donating to charity.

As already said, this off putting additional fee for buyers, does not get added on if seller is registered correctly as a business seller.

Thank you for responding to my post. I have now had a chance to look at business seller information and still believe that I should remain a casual private seller. Also, I do not contribute to charities on the eBay site but do so by using any funds made by selling items. Unfortunately this amount has been zero the past few months! I have no more words eBay.

Re: selling

Your issue is that all new items ebay and HMRC may not believe you are not a business .

Even charities selling on ebay have to have business seller account.

Re: selling

So all those items are your own unwanted personal possessions?

You don't buy any to sell?
