Seller and UK government recall safety recall

Has anybody received a government safety recall notice on a product from this company?

Item details: 266997333622 - 5m-25m Outdoor 10A 2 Gang With Extension Lead Switched Socket IP66 Outside

Product Safety Report: Outdoor Sockets & Extension Lead sold via eBay (2307-0184).

I have had the product more than 30 days so Ebay will have nothing to do with the matter. The product is a serious fire risk according to the government warning. Fortunately I have not used it as yet.

I have contacted the company and have had nothing back after an initial email saying they have sent the request off to another department. I am trying to get a refund but the least I expect is a yes/no, so I can contact my credit card.

The seller is unlikely to offer a refund, and as you say, ebay will not get involved.    So contact your CC.

FYI - American express refunded my money within 48 hours.

It is concerning though that the government recall was dated 14 August 2023 and the warning email from Ebay was November 2025. I realise these things take time to percolate through the system but the problem had a high enough profile in 2023 to warrant a government recall notice.

Also, looking for reviews of pig-on the trees 2 on independent websites e.g Trust pilot has made me realise how poorly rated Ebay is. I realise they are only an agent for a number of companies and their rating is dependant on their sellers as well, but in future I will be very careful what type of products I purchase from them.
