Looks like I'll have to reply to myself as no tech support appeared. Since original post I had to view mobile version eBay through chrome, which uses more data but today for no apparent reason all of a sudden eBay mobile verdion is back to being accessed through Google search. Othe posts of similar nature don't seem to get resolved by an actual eBay employee tech person either, a glitch that doesn't want to be recognised or admitted to, who knows.
