eBay ignoring request to have negative feedback removed

I have been with eBay for 22 years and have seen the buyer/seller feedback as an important and correct part of the platform. I have worked hard to maintain my 100% feedback and would not leave negative feedback unless every other attempt to resolve an issue had failed.

I contacted eBay a few days back as I have received negative feedback, (which is completely unwarranted in my opinion) to ask you to review the negative feedback and to reverse it, unfortunately I received a message back from you with no justification/explanation , informing me that the negative feedback would remain. I am disappointed and upset that you have not explained your reasoning and would like you to actually read the reason for the negative feedback and then explain what justification there is for allowing it to remain.

       1. I sold an item that worked.

  1. The purchaser messaged me to explain that the power supply had a bent internal connector pin. I was surprised, but to keep him happy, rather than question him, I issued an immediate return and refund, even though I would need to incur the postage both ways.

  1. As soon as the item arrived back with me, I checked the power supply and could see that the purchaser had bent the power supply pin by trying it in the wrong socket, but I decided to not bother the purchaser about it.

  1. The purchaser left me negative feedback for the item that he had bent,  see below:

‘Item arrived well packaged and in good time. BUT the power adapter would not go into the Humax, upon closer inspection the adapter pin was damaged and I had to return it. Really annoyed as I used an eBay voucher to get £15 off this item and I could not use it after I returned it, so this item and the seller not checking it all worked meant I lost out on £15. Annoying’

The negative feedback was unwarranted as the purchaser damaged the item and then was annoyed that he lost his voucher, that was nothing to do with me at all.

I have no means of leaving feedback for the seller, which is unfair and biased towards a dishonest purchaser.

In summary, I sold a working item, paid for its return, issued a refund even though the item had been damaged by the buyer and have been left negative feedback by the buyer because he lost a voucher I have no control over.

Please eBay if you are reading this can you review the above and reverse my negative feedback or explain fully the reason for it remaining.

No ebay wouldn't remove it, as they don't see these items being sold so can't make judgements, instead they provide feedback revision requests you can send out asking a buyer to change the feedback, but a buyer can decline the request. See this FB revision request link Replying to feedback you received for an item you sold | eBay

You have also left a follow up reply so buyers can see your explanation for the issue.

Thank you for explaining.

I did ask the buyer to retract his negative feedback and I asked eBay to reverse it too, but to no avail.

I was really hoping they may sees sense and see that the buyer was more bothered about losing his voucher than the item he had damaged.

I have lost all faith in eBay, it seems that a buyer can do as they please , dishonest or not and it is the seller who suffers.
