buyer refuses to accept delivery

this is a strange one, i sold a snap on tool chest for £905, the buyer lives a long way away and requested i placed it on a pallet which he would pay for, i sent it on an overnight service last friday , the buyer states he was expecting it to arrive on the saturday which it did,nt, the courior tried to deliver today but the buyer now says he will not accept delivery  and now says he wants a refund and i must ask the courior company to return it to me, i am a private person and accept returns if faulty , is the buyer within his rights to refuse delivery , i have gone to a lot of effort to get it to him

This is a tricky one.

If the buyer arranged (and paid for) their own courier, they are not covered by the Ebay Money Back Guarantee and refusing delivery also means that they are not covered. Details here:

I would send that link and information to your buyer.

They may then decide to open a case stating the item is not as described.  However, I assume they would have to accept the item before they could open such a case.
