I ordered a part for my boat steering . Vevor boat hydraulic steering Order number 24-12786-46923 the company refused to send the part to Inverness which is part of the British mainland the courier that was used to drop the part at my daughters house delivers to Inverness
This caused me a 250 miles round trip to pick up the parcel which I think is completely out of order
Can you please let me know why we are discriminated against for staying in Inverness

Murdo evening. Unfortunately your location is classed as a “premium” area for the likes of evri etc. what some lazy sellers don’t realise is the likes of Royal Mail deliver at no premium. On the odd occasion we have experienced this we have written to the customer eg your good self and asked if you mind an item being sent via Royal Mail instead at no extra cost etc (that’s if the item is more expensive).
out of curiosity what was the weight of the hydraulic items you wanted?

There is no discrimination, only ROYAL MAIL charge the same for all parts of the UK.
Couriers may charge about three times the amount that they quote for most parts of the UK, but seller does not know where the buyer is until a sale happens, and they cannot ask buyer to pay more.
I am not sure whether Inverness is classed as being in the Highlands, but to avoid sellers losing out on Courier Charges, it is possible to not sell to parts of the UK so just as sales to France can be blocked it is possible to block selling to Highlands of Scotland, Scottish Islands, Offshore Islands etc.

Is eBay saying its OK to discriminate against the people of the Scottish highlands
The difficulty is that eBay doesn't allow sellers to increase the delivery price after the sale. Neither is it practicable, especially for private sellers, to display multiple delivery charges for different regions.
This doesn’t arise with Royal Mail, which is required by law to provide a universal deliver service. However, when items are delivered by courier there is often a surcharge for delivery to regions such as the Scottish Highlands.
This wouldn't be a problem if buyers in these areas were willing to meet the extra cost. Unfortunately, many sellers have posted here to say that when this surcharge is explained to buyers they have aggressively refused to pay it.
No seller wants to have angry, dissatisfied buyers or lose money on delivery, so it's hardly surprising if some have chosen to opt out of delivering to these areas.
