Hi fellow ebayer sellers,
This might be a slight rant, but I'm curious if any other sellers have encountered a BAD week here on ebay, starting 7 September 2025 (as I write it's Sept 13th)? And not just necessarily selling...
99.9% of my sales are auction listings, ending on a Sunday night. On the 7th I had the usual handful of cancellation requests; because this is just a pick n' choose game as to which of the items won you'd like to actually purchase, right?!
But then I had a buyer message me to state two items they bought 2-weeks prior (paid, received and feedback left already) were stuck in their checkout basket. I think that's happened to me prior and eventually they cleared. But allegedly he'd contacted ebay and they'd suggested I cancel their double order. Which I started to do before realising I'd be refunding the buyer 100%.... So what kind of ebay advise was that?! Or, an attempted scam to pull on a dim-witted seller? I like to think the former.
Then the next day I saw my feedback score had slipped down to 99%, yet had no recent user grumbles along the lines of this used item looks to have been touched prior without a gloved hand.... I had FIVE negative feedbacks! All from the same buyer, who'd won 5 auctions, 7-weeks prior!
First, I thought only ONE feedback, positive or negative, shows up? Not all five individually.
Secondly, this lovely buyer who'd won these five items back in late-July put in a cancellation request of the entire £80+ order the following morning. Naturally I obliged because they'd only open a return request upon receipt, so why waste time and more money? So HOW did a buyer who'd cancelled their order get to leave negative feedback? And how was their experience negative? I presume they spat their dummy out and did this out of spite because they realised I'd blocked them. Sorry, but this ain't no game; ebay is my only income and time wasters/financial meddlers are not welcome.
I put in a request for ebay to remove all five malicious feedbacks, and they approved three... Two were denied using the reason the order was changed after purchase. Wait, what? All five were the SAME order. NOTHING changed after the sale.
I contacted ebay customer support and got the message NOBODY IS AVAILABLE. I thought business sellers now had one-to-one help? Have these people already been replaced by robots? Anyway, eventually I did manage to contact a customer support member and they wiped the remaining two negatives away, but couldn't tell me how the buyer had been able to do this in the first place. So I'm thinking the 'site was quite glitchy this week. Which brings me to Tuesday when most ebay usernames I clicked on returned the warning message 'This is not a registered user'. By Wednesday it was back to normal, but what happened there?!
Then finally, as stated prior 99.9% of my sales are auctions. I list 80-100 items per weekend and sell around 98% of all listings. Admittedly I never get high viewing numbers; my average is 40 views by the end of the week, but considering there are supposedly millions of ebay users around the world... Unless the viewable info is incorrect? After all, I often get reports of Views = 2, Watchers = 5.... Even now 6-days after listing I have view numbers of between 0-8 on loads of my auctions. And I've never had so many bid-less items with just a day left to run.
So basically this is gearing up to be my worst auction week in recent memory. I get that it's mid-month and folks are waiting on end-of-the-month pay cheques, but with the technical errors and low bid activity I just wondered if anyone else had run into snags this week and what the Hell is going on?!
