I’m a private seller, and have been selling quite a lot of things on eBay recently as I’m having a huge house and garage clear out
I sell most of my items at fixed price, and in the past few days have noticed that some items are appearing for significantly more than I’ve listed them. A motorcycle satnav for instance, listed at £80 is appearing at £99
When I look into the price details, it shows an item price of £96 and £3 or so for the buyer protection fee
it seems that 20%, which I assume is VAT, is being added to my listings by ebay
My questions are
1) why?
2) why does the listing not state that VAT has been added? This is a legal requirement
3) why?

Are you using this ID to sell, as I cannot see anything listed or sold. It would help to see the listings!
Had to use a different route to find your items.

There is something seriously wrong with your account, prices are showing in £ and $.
It shows overseas shipping as free, there is no mention of buyer protection or selling fees. There is nothing on listings to show whether you are a private or business seller.
I think for some reason your account is being treated as overseas, which is why VAT is being added.
If you should get an overseas buyer it will cost you a lot of money.
I think you need to speak to ebay to find out what is wrong.

Thanks
i’ll go through my account settings today and see if something is amiss. I do have a USA delivery address set up for a freight forwarding company when I buy from USA and the seller won’t ship directly here… maybe that’s causing an issue?
otherwise, I’ll give eBay a call on Monday to get it sorted out

I have had a look at your listings and they look ok to me.
Your account is UK and items are located in Peterborough.
This listing (for example) seems right.
I guess you listed at £75 and Ebay have added 4% BPF of £3 + 72p.
