Sold on eBay and postage fees have changed since original listing, I'm now out of pocket

I used Evri Tracked as the preferred postage type on all my items. The cost auto-populated as £2.94 and that is the cost displayed on my items for sale that buyers can see and that I get "charged upfront" when buying the lables.

I just sold one of my items, and the postage cost has come through on eBay as £5.46!!! Worse still, its taken the difference off my balance, so I've paid the extra amount!!

Why has this happened? Has there been a change to pricing, and if so why haven't all listings been automatically updated with correct costs by eBay?

Your buyer will be on one of the postcodes that evri charges a premium for.

Thank you, that helps explain, they live in Inverness though, surely that's not too difficult a place to take a parcel lol?

That aside though, why doesn't eBay have an automatic tool in place to charge the buyer the difference / additional cost if post fees are higher than stipulated because of the area the buyer lives in, why does it fall on the seller to pay it?

This will mean that it's a complete lottery on whether I've got the right costs listed... leaving me the only option of putting my postage costs at the higher amount incase the buyer happens to be from one of those areas, putting me at an immediate disadvantage on pricing?
