Sold an item back in December.

Hi, I sold an ereader back in December and heard nothing from the buyer since which I assumed meant they were happy with their purchase.

Two days ago out of the blue he sends an email to say a family members told him the battery only lasts 48 hours. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the battery which is why I advertised it as being used and in perfect condition.

All I could think to do was offer advice on how battery life depends on user preference etc and because I have no idea how the ereaders been used in the last 2 months the item’s been out of my possession there’s nothing more I could add as it isn’t my responsibility anymore.

Apparently I spoke to him like a fool and I cant claim to have sold it in "Perfect" or "Excellent" condition yet he accepted the item without any complaint. I don't know what he expected me to do or say 2 months down the line.

As its out of ebays 30 day window so he ended the email quoting he has “PayPal Buyer Protection on the item for 180 days”

A quick Google search showed that PayPal revised their policy recently and if an item is claimed to be “Not sold as advertised” the buyer now only has 30 days to make a claim through Paypal, is this correct or am I reading it wrong?

.

"Significantly Not as Described claims must be opened by the buyer in the Resolution Center within 30 days of the delivery or fulfillment of an order or within 180 days of the date a payment was sent by the buyer to the seller, whichever is sooner."

Thanks.

You are correct, buyer is too late for ebay or paypal case.

However, if they used debit/credit card to fund purchase, they can still do chargeback.

Best to try and resolve issue amicably.
