Simple delivery dimensions too small for older listing

I listed an item a year or so ago, and having just sold it, found it had been switched, as all listings have, to simple delivery. It Had been allocated Royal Mail which is too small. My item is light, but approx 85cm long. The other dimensions are small. I had listed it with EVRI postage which I do for items too large for Roysl Mail.

I spoke to ebay customer service who said they would send a new Evri label in a couple of hours.  Over 4 hours later, no label, so I rang again. Now the CS say it may take up to 48 hours. They advised I generate a label ( the Royal Mail one that is incorrect) to stop me losing my delivery record, and towaitfor the label.

My question is - do I trust them?!!! I have no record of the conversation.  I asked for some record of the advisor, and they said I would get it in my messages, but I have not .

I would like to hear what others have done successfully I this situation. I am tempted to cancel the order, relist with updated postage option, making the buyer aware, but am not sure if I would be penalised for this.🤔

Never heard of CS doing that.  I would cancel with buyer's agreement, and relist with correct postage.   As long as they agree there will be no penalty.

I am still awaiting my elusive new label from Ebay. I have asked the customer if they would agree for me to cancel the order and rellist with only the valid postage option this time, which should be about the same cost. Awaiting response. Who is Simple Delivery supposed to be simple for?!!!
