Why oh why are eBay ALWAYS messing around with things these days and making them worse? I list a lot of small items that can be posted with Royal Mail as standard letters and lower weight large letters. These cost 87p, £1.55, £2.00 or £2.40 to post depending on weight. It now appears that the cheapest Royal Mail option will now be large letter up to 750g costing £2.73. This will now make a large number of my items uneconomical to sell. WHY cannot sellers have the option to select ALL standard Royal Mail tariffs. I have used eBay for 20 years and if there was a viable alternative I would ditch them now, as these constant changes have completely ruined what used to be a great format.

Under simple delivery, sellers don't buy postage,
Buyer pays ebay, seller gets link to print label.

If your items are under £10 and are under 100gms in packed weight then items are exempt from simple delivery.

Further to the above, op, Royal Mail have always only ever had one price break on sending large letters on tracked it’s a one for all under 750gm price.
although what I find odd is the price of £2.73 you mention when eBay state we will save you upto 20% on your postage costs this price is actually more expensive than buying from Royal Mail direct on line….

I don’t post low value items tracked, so now being forced to do so is causing a massive increase in costs which will render the items uneconomical to sell.

With respect, you are missing the point. I list all my items as “Free Postage and Packing”, so I pay. That option remains under so called ‘Simple Delivery’. Most of these items currently cost me significantly less to post than the new £2.73 minimum as I don’t use tracked services due to low value. These changes force me to do so and will therefore render many items uneconomical to sell. Regardless of whether the seller or the buyer pays, having to now pay £2.73 for items that may currently cost just 87p makes no sense whatsoever. I am sick and fed up of eBay changing things and claiming that they make things better when in reality it makes them far worse.

Most items that I sell are under £10 but over 100g, so my postage costs will double under this stupid scheme.

You stated simple delivery in title.
As you want to do freepost, then as you said, simple delivery rates do not apply.

That would be good if true, but I didn’t read it like that. It read to me as though the Simple Delivery system would apply to ALL sales by private sellers, regardless of whether the buyer or seller pays the postage. So will I still be able to buy Royal Mail postage for standard letters and lighter large letters without tracking? Would you be kind enough to provide a link to where it says that? Many thanks.

I don't think you will be able to buy your own postage in your case
I think items under £10 AND less than 100g Simple Delivery does not apply, you can buy your own postage
Items under £10 but over 100g will be included in Simple Delivery but with FREEPOST seller will be paying the SD rate for postage

Thanks. I thought that was the case. So items that currently cost me £1.55, £2.00 or £2.40 to post (large letter untracked) will now cost me £2.73. How can anyone at eBay think that this is a good idea? As mentioned, a lot of my items will no longer be viable to sell through eBay anymore, so they are shooting themselves in the foot! It’s utter stupidity.
