Seller is a scammer

Why is there no way to contact eBay customer service? I’ve just encountered a seller that makes listings for items he does not have. In this case he took the pictures off an item in Vinted to create his fake listing. I found this by coincidence as I was interested in this item from a Vinted seller and was looking on eBay to see if I could find a better price for the same item. By my surprise I found a listing here that had the same pictures from the one in Vinted. When I compared the pictures it became clear this was exactly the same pictures. I contacted the seller on Vinted and the seller on eBay. The Vinted seller turned out to be the real owner who told me she did not had an eBay account and it was not her. She sent me further pictures of the item which I ended up buying and already have on my possession so this was the confirmation the Vinted seller was the real seller. I confronted the eBay seller who gave me a bs story and when I showed him the evidence he stopped answering. Shortly after he changed the item pictures to blur the background so it wasn’t so obvious that it wasn’t his pictures. I reported his profile but meanwhile it has been 10 days and no answer from eBay and the item and the seller account is still up live. People and eBay are actively being scammed by this seller and it doesn’t seem like eBay cares about it.

Re: Seller is a scammer

It would'nt be very clever scam given the existence of the money back guarantee.  Perhaps your ebay seller has the same item to sell and just nkcked the photos.

Re: Seller is a scammer

It’s definitely not the same seller. I spoke to the real seller and they also reported the account and assured me they don’t sell on eBay. I know about the money back guarantee, I think eBay is the one getting scammed because I suppose the seller can also claim they sent the item so both the buyer and the seller would get the money and the item is considered as lost when there was never an item on the first place.. but this is just my best guess.

Re: Seller is a scammer

All this seller has done and proved , is that they are a somewhat ' lazy' seller.

They have a similar item to sell and have taken the photos from another seller from another site,  to use for themselves on eBay.

A silly move because unless it is 100% identical, or if they haven't in their description described any faults, marks etc. on their item,   they lay themselves open to cases for item not as described.  Photos play an important part of any description.

If they do not have these items, buyers are fully protected under eBay's 30 day MBG Money Back Guarantee policy to receive a full refund.  The seller gains nothing by listing items they do not have in their possession, they have just lazily used another seller's photos for their listing.

"both the buyer and the seller would get the money and the item is considered as lost"

If the buyer does not received the item the seller has to refund and claim from their carrier - eBay don't refund.
