Return of item

Hiya, I sold an item 2 weeks before Xmas, on Xmas day the buyer messaged to say the item wasn’t working. I checked prior to posting that all was working, so gave the buyer some ideas on what they need to do to connect the item. They came back to still say they couldn’t get it to work. On the 26th December I said send the item back and I’ll give a refund. I’ve not heard since, and today get a message to say they want to send it back. They have had the item for over 3 weeks, and all over Xmas. Do I accept the return? I just feel there is something dodgy and they have played with it all over Xmas and now it’s back to work, they want to return?
any advice would be great.
I emailed to say they could return on the 26th…..they have sent a return via eBay today. All a bit suss saying busy Xmas, but they still had access to email to maybe suggest they would send later rather than no response at all.
thank you for taking the time to read my problem.

Buyers have 30 days to open ebay item not as described case.

You issue returns label and refund on return.

If you refuse or ignore case, buyer keeps item, you still have to refund.

Without case, ebay won't get involved.

Probably reason for delay was that your answer was all wrong. Buyer should have opened a NOT AS DES CRIBED CASE, YOU provide return label and refund on return.

If buyer has just returned without opening a proper case, then they have spent money on postage, which should have been your responsibility, and will have no means of enforcing s refund as ebsy will not have been involved.

You say they have sent a return via ebay, I do not know what you mean, but if ebay are involved then you may get a defect, and ebay refunds at your expense, when tracking shows as delivered.
