The item was faulty but the seller wouldn't do refund so I asked eBay to help they said return item to seller which I did once it showed delivered which it does with Royal Mail and on eBay I would receive my refund. But have no refund and it states case closed now on item.

How long ago did the seller receive the item back?
If the seller doesn't refund, 48 hours after the tracking shows the seller has the item back, you can (should) ask Ebay to step in.
If the seller doesn't refund you, and you don't ask Ebay to step in, the case will close after 21 days.

You do not mention OPENING a NOT AS DESCRIBED CASE, then if seller does not deal with case within 3 days, you escalate to ebay.
Through a proper case seller is responsible for return postage but the implication is that you just returned at your expense, without opening a return case.
