I have purchased an item which was damaged in transit. I requested a return the seller agreed to this and sent me a label for a much smaller item.
The PostOffice wanted me to pay the balance for delivery.
I contacted the seller and was told to contact Ebay.
Ebay told me to contact the seller.
The return label runs out today do I let it

Not sure who you talked to at eBay, sadly you do sometimes receive the wrong answer. You need to contact them again, as they should provide you with the correct label, and charge it to the seller's account. If you pay the extra, there will be no way to reimburse you for the amount you pay.
I strongly recommend contacting Customer Services very first thing in the morning when the lines first open, as there's more chance of Dublin answering.
This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

As said, I recommend contacting CS very first thing in the morning, when the lines first open, as there's more chance of Dublin answering.
