Cancellation of a sale

I recently sold a bicycle for £2500 for pick up only, the guy never showed so agreed to cancel the transaction but looking at my invoice the fees are still there. Is ebay still expecting me to pay the fee?

When a buyer doesn't complete the sale you have two choices to get your final value fee returned.

If you're sure they won't refuse it you can send them a cancellation request through the resolution centre, see: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/cancel-transaction-process.html?rmvSB=true

You MUST select "Buyer and Seller Agree to cancel" as the reason. If you cancel in any other way it's liable to be treated as a selller-initiated cancelaltion, which disqualifies you from any return of fees and may result in a defect on your account.

You can open a case any time between 2 and 32 days after the listing ends, and close it after four days if they haven't paid. Your final value fee will be credited back to your account and the buyer will receive an unpaid item strike.

If you didn't follow either of these procedures correctly you may have forfeit your right to a refund of fees, and could even end up with a damaging defect on your account for cancelling the sale.
