Purchased a fake golf club

Evening,

I purchased a Ping putter this week from a seller with 100% feedback and several thousand feedback entries. Today I received the item, however being a golf pro I instantly recognised the item was fake. There were numerous indicators of it being a fake (can be provided if needed). I have opened a return case which was accepted by the seller. I have since left negative feedback given the seller has sold a counterfeit item and tried to pass it off as genuine.

They have since left me positive feedback (only option available to sellers) however with very negative and false feedback claiming I am the scammer. How can this feedback be removed? I have seen on help pages ebay automatically remove this kind of content, but how does this actually happen? I have all the screenshots, photo's and evidence coming out of my ears that proves I am correct on this one.

I can see this being a tricky drawn out case now. I will of course return the item as agreed in exactly the same condition it arrived to me (despite the seller claiming I've swapped a genuine product with a fake one which is utter madness). Any advice would be appreciated, it seems actually getting hold of someone at ebay is impossible. How does ebay buyer protection actually work and how can this be utilised?

TIA

Two things,  firstly yes you can have that feedback removed as you rightly say sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers,  so contact Customer Services,  link below and they will remove it and place an account defect on that seller's account.

For item not as described proceed this way.

If you are still within 30 days of the item's last estimated date for delivery you are guaranteed a full refund,  under eBay's 30 day MBG,  Money Back Guarantee policy.

Just proceed this way:

You have received an item not as described,  go right of the item in your Purchase History and from More Actions select... Return this item selecting the reason Item Does Not Match Description or Photos.

The seller needs to accept this case within 3 days and refund,  if they want their item back first , they need to pay for that fully tracked return postage, then on receipt of their item they have 48 hours to refund you.  If they don't ,  need to escalate the case,  ask eBay to step in, and they'll force the refund.

Never listen to any excuse or promise from the seller to close the case early,  and do not forget to escalate.

For the removal of that feedback,  t his is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

There is no reason why this should be long or drawn out.

Make sure you send the item back promptly.

Once the tracking shows delivery, the seller has 48 hours to refund you.

If they don't, go back to the case and ask Ebay to step in.

Contact Ebay Customer Services to get the feedback comments removed.  Use the link to get a callback.  Sellers are not allowed to leave negative comments with your positive 'green dot'.

It's worth commenting that the seller you bought from is selling from a private account with 195 brand new sets of clubs and other items listed!  Check the account status - business sellers should have business accounts and an 'any reason' returns policy.

The seller you bought from is depriving their buyers of their consumer rights and Ebay of their fees by trading from a private account.

"There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.”

Purchased a fake golf club

Hi @jckl1957,

Thank you for taking the time reply, genuinely appreciated. My concerns about it being a drawn out process is because the seller is trying to claim he sent a genuine product and I have switched it out with a fake. This is 100% not the case, I've taken as many photo's as humanly possible to prove this.

I will of course duly oblige in returning the item to the seller and will follow up with ebay if required. It's a very interesting point you make in regards to their account status, it's something I hadn't even clocked. I will try and report this to ebay, although I tried to report the counterfeit item but ebay AI basically declined my report and said there was nothing wrong with the item.

Thanks again
