Could anyone please advise if I have any legal rights to a vehicle I purchased through eBay that had (unbeknownst to me) a Chattel Mortgage lodged against it? Where do I stand wit this, is there any redress through eBay ? The motorhome was purchased in good faith but I am now being sued for it's return (along with unpaid interest payments on the loan to the Motorhome Hire company). I am not the only one in this position, there are many others who face the same outcome.
Many thanks,

unfortunately you have no protection on eBay with vehicles, best seek legal advice.
However, a question that might be asked is, did you do due diligence?
Sounds as if some fraud has been worked. Though you will not get far - I fear - this might be a case for the police. Try to use the words like "theft" not "fraud" as otherwise you will be routed to Inaction Fraud who pass on only 19%
you should have run checks on the motor home before you paid
We're not a legal advice service.
All we can do is advise you where you stand with regard to your rights as a buyer on eBay. The answer, as you no doubt now know, is that you have no protection whatsoever when buying any motor vehicle on eBay, regardless of how you pay.
I have just answerd a similar question, which suggests how many buyers are still being scammed, on a daily basis. Did you know that in a TV programme about organised crime, a senior police officer reported that one criminal gang alone had registered "multiple hundreds" of fake accounts on eBay to place fraudulent listings for motor vehicles. For some reason, motorhomes seem to be an especially popular lure.
