I am asking eBay to have a rethink and maybe create a new category in cosmetics for allowing the sale of used fragrances.
I realise the FDA seem to put all the eggs in one basket, treating fragrances as make up items, creams etc, but maybe if they could actually look into reclassification with a little prompt from eBay (They are the auction powerhouse after all and I am sure they have powers of persuasion that it would be impossible for others to reach!!)
The reasons I believe a new category should be created-:
A) I cannot understand the argument that used fragrances are at risk of cross infection. I say this because the bottles are in factory sealed atomiser tops. I totally understand and agree with the rules regarding fragrances that are not atomisers, these are far more open to cross infection, and should remain prohibited, but there is no more risk from atomiser bottles, as there would be from selling anything else that has been used, from furniture to shoes.
B) I am not expecting everyone to understand, and am prepared for opposing replies, and I do realise I am a business, and it is slightly different to a private seller who wishes to sell 1 or 2 bottles, but I can and would always reassure customers, that used fragrances are 100% safe, if they are in a factory sealed atomiser bottle. The actual scent will remain fresh as long as the bottles are stored correctly.
C) Fragrances can be hugely expensive and selling used bottles, is also a really lovely way to allow access to these fragrances for all.
D) The perfume houses that make mega profits will always be against reselling fragrances because it is bad for their business model, but they should realise sustainability is the future and by forcing only new bottle sales, there is in excess of 1 million perfume bottles put into landfill every year, reselling is a fantastic way of reducing this waste.
I hope this message at least gives some food for thought, and would be interested in others opinions.

do please let us know their answer.
however you cannot sell used as new - even if you only spray to test, its used and putting used in the title is a listing violation.

I've no issue with used perfume being listed anywhere, I often see the very collectible Vivienne Westwood ones on other sites and think they look great in a display, but I would imagine it's something to do with shipping.
Royal Mail won't take it, I'm not sure what the restrictions are from other carriers but I would imagine, given that it's flammable, it may be the same.

Thank you for your thoughts.. I understand your comment regarding New / Used.. This would be the same for any listing, Sellers who sold an item as new when it was used would have return after return after return..
The issue I have is not selling (New as Used) it’s the ability to sell (Part Used as Part Used)
As long as the bottles are atomiser sealed, and both photographs and descriptions are clear that the bottles are Part Used then It’s a win win all round, including the impact on the environment & sustainability
