Problems with returning item to seller based in China

Hello All

I've been an ebay member since 2000 so not a newbie and should know better.....I ordered a motorcycle accessory from a seller registered in China, the item was advertised to fit a specific motorcycle and of course when it arrived, it does not in any way fit. I've had the runaround before so I went straight into requesting a return via ebay, on the grounds that the item was not as described.

The seller offered me a 20% refund if i wanted to keep the (useless) item, or if I would give them my Paypal details and an invoice for the postage costs (to a quoted UK address) they would reimburse the postage.

Now, the UK address supplied doesn't appear to be registered with ebay and I don't want to give them my paypal details outside of ebay. I have therefore been asking that they follow ebay procedure, accept the return and provide a pre-paid tracked postage label to their registered ebay address. They've tried everything to avoid the proper ebay procedure.

They have eventually accepted the return, Ebay have sent message from ebay saying await return label.....

No return label has been sent and the seller is saying he is not able to purchase return labels in UK. Ebay customer services confirmed seller is liable for postage but says they have option of providing a label or paying me up front for postage.

Seller is again asking me for paypal details but I'm not prepared to give them (or any other financial details for that matter) outside of ebay, to a seller I cannot trust. Return postage cost is almost as much as the item itself.

So what do I do now,  can / should the seller provide postage payment via ebay?

Thanks A.

If the item said from the UK on the listing then that is where it goes back to.

Your post is confusing it sounds as if you are saying it has to go back to China ?

It is not where the seller is registered that is important it is where it says the item is on the listing.

All disputes go through ebay and the seller refunds through ebay.

if you have opened a Not as described dispute and the seller is respnsible for the return postage label and does not send one then escalate to ebay.

You can do that after 4 full days.

Hello

No the ad said the item was located in /coming from China and ebay have provided me with an address in China for the return, but the seller at one point wanted me to send the item to a UK address which isnt known to ebay afaik.

What i want to know is how does the seller provide me with the postage cost up front (if they cant / wont provide a label) within the ebay system as i don't want to give him any more personal info outside ebay.

How your seller resolves this or how he sends you a label is his problem.

If you haven't received either a refund or a postage label in 3 days then on day 4 escalate your case for ebay to step in.

I don't know whos dodgier - the seller or ebay customer service......

Case opened - item was delivered from China, ebay customer service say return item to china , case closed.

Customer service says I need to open a paypal account to receive postage costs from seller!

Seller says no, I must return item to UK address,  not China, refuses to pay china postage cost

Ebay customer service then says return item to UK address....

I've asked Ebay to confirm UK address is legit - as sellers other item feedback suggests this address this address is dodgy / returns gone missing.

So it seems postage costs to china unpaid or I risk losing my money and the item.

Now I get it, the ebay customer service is in india......

I have repeatedly asked them (EBAY) to confirm that the seller supplied UK address is legitimate and registered with EBAY, but they won't...
