Postage to the Europe/EU

Hello,

Having had an issue where I could not have both a Postage Service AND a Rates Table for International Postage I was persuaded by eBay that using Business Policies for postage would solve the problem.

And to a degree that does work HOWEVER using £15 as a test price for postage to Europe when I look in the listing the postage price shown varies for each EU country.

The price is shown as £15 for non EU European countries like Norway but for an EU county instead of £15 it shows £18.50 or some amount around that price. It is a different price for each EU country.

eBay could not explain what this is.

Do you know?

Thanks.

It turns out it is VAT charged by the relevant EU country and collected by eBay on the postage that is purchased in the UK even though the price you pay for the Royal Mail service has UK VAT in it. Meaning that the seller has paid VAT on the postage and the buyer has paid VAT on the postage.

I don't know what happens if you send by a more expensive service because you want a higher level of insurance. Maybe the Polish or the French or the German HMCR track you down and demand another £0.92p.
