Paypal - difficulty on refund

I bought a mobile phone which did not work. Couldnt make telephone calls from it. Sent it back to seller.

Turned to Paypal because seller not inclined to refund and wouldnt believe it was faulty.

Although I had 24 hour tracking proof through Royal Mail Paypal said the tracking photo was illegible ! It wasnt as you can magnify the photo.

I got my money back but only as a gesture of goodwill.....

So this is a warning to mobile phone buyers on Ebay and the vagaries of Paypal.

Paypal - difficulty on refund

If you had used the Ebay Money Back Guarantee and returned the phone through a 'not as described' case, you would probably have had fewer issues.

There is no need for the seller to state they accept returns or believe what you tell them, Ebay would have supported your return and ensured a refund.

If Paypal had decided not to refund, you wouldn't have subsequently been able to open a return through Ebay.

Always go via Ebay first.
