Payment on hold till provide valid identification

My payment account has been put on hold till I submit a valid form of identification. I have been buying and selling on here for about 20 years with no problems. Why now to verify my identity?

I have provided my passport at least 3 times now. It is expired. However in the UK it is still a valid form of identification. I have no other form that is being asked for.

Just got off the phone to customer services who were no help and just repeated the same thing over and over telling me I should go get a valid form of identification as an expired passport doesn't count. I even suggested I could take a photo of my face with the passport in the picture.

If this continues like this, then I guess I will just have to stop using this platform as there are many more out there.

eBay accept Valid Passport or  Photocard Driver's License,they wont accept expired ones.

They should also accept Birth certificate and Utility bill

Provided both a birth certificate, and a 2 week old Council Tax letter (which is a utility bill?), and still not being accepted.

What is wrong with this company? I Have 20+ years buying and selling, never changed bank account in that time, I have moved address' a few times. Can't even use the funds that are on hold to buy anything.

Is this a sneaky way to make more money of of interest?

Not happy at all. with the total lack of common sense, and the arrogance that "everyone" has either a passport of drivers licence.
