I sold an item 3 days ago, but it remains unpaid. I realise that the buyer has 4 days to pay and that Ebay send a reminder after 24 hours and 48 hours, but what happens if it remains unpaid? Does Ebay send me a notification so that I can cancel the transaction and relist? I would rather contact the buyer before I do that to ask for payment, but I don't want to get into a protracted correspondence. I've never had this situation before and I don't really know the procedure. I'm not able to send an invoice (I think because I chose Simple Delivery).

I always leave a message on 'day 4' reminding the buyer they have not paid and telling them their item is ready to pack and send as soon as they pay.
On day 5, so after 4 complete days, you will be able to cancel using the reason 'buyer did not pay'.
Ebay won't prompt you to cancel, but the option to cancel using 'buyer didn't pay' isn't available until the payment is overdue.

On day 4 you can cancel as unpaid.
Neither of can leave feedback.

After two reminders from Ebay, do you really feel it is worth wasting your time asking for payment?
Just more delay before you can relist.
