Parcelforce unable to deliver, so returned to me

Hi, here’s a frustrating problem.

Parcelforce have returned a package to me because they have been unable to deliver it.

posted on 23rd April, traveled probably 800 miles and now as of the 17th of May it’s back with me.

Sold for £1 with a £15 postage cost.

according to the tracking it has been delivered, but obviously NOT to the buyers address.

hes looking for it. I’ve told him I’ve got it back.

I do not want to be out of pocket if I have to offer a refund.

The way I see it a combination of Parcelforce and thr Buyer are responsible for the package some how ending up back where it started and there isn’t a button in the eBay app to raise this as a problem.

You have the item and the buyer's money so one has to go.

Best way is to cancel the order citing Problem with Buyer's Address.  This refunds the buyer everything they paid,  and your seller performance is not affected.

Then, if you wish to sell the item again and to this buyer relist it,  message them that the item is back on sale.

I cannot remember but think that Parcelforce send a message when the item is on its way and for the buyer to leave an alternative place / neighbour for them to leave the item if recipient is not at home?  Perhaps they can complete that so this does not happen again.

How is the buyer responsible if Parcelforce delivered it to the wrong address??

The buyer now has the right to either a refund or the item they ordered. You could redeliver it, but I agree with tressygirl that the best option would be to cancel and refund - then if you both wish you can start again.
