As other private sellers have stated on here this new Buyer Protection system falls short of assisting sellers! We are totally reliant on the couriers updating their delivery information which does not always happen.
I sent an item Royal Mail 48hr tracked, after 9 days I realised I still hadn't been paid so contacted eBay. They told me I would get paid when tracking updated or in 14 days! I pointed out that if my buyer had not received this item by now they would surely have emailed me but no that didn't matter to eBay. They said if the buyer left feedback then I could get paid.
So I emailed my buyer, who fortunately replied promptly and was most helpful as was very pleased with the item. We had an email exchange and then they left positive feedback for me, all of which eBay could see on my account. Still no payment from eBay.
I rang them again to be told I would have to wait 2 days after feedback was given. So I waited.... 2.5 days after feedback was left I rang again, was eventually put through to their finance team who finally then released my payment. I was told that if tracking has not updated but buyer does leave feedback the system only automatically releases payment for items less than £10, for items over the 14 days delay still applies or you have to ring and complain as I did!
How is this progress? I can only see it enables eBay to hold on to our payments and earn interest on our money for a couple of weeks, which when you consider the amount of traffic on eBay could be a considerable amount! Every time I ring eBay they tell me how much they value me as a customer for 19 years, personally not feeling valued now.......
