Negative feedback left for a seller

Hi all.

Probably a common theme here, but I will relate the story anyway!

I live in the UK, Ebay member for 16+ years.

Buyer for my item lives in Mexico.

After he won the auction and paid (it was only £20), I went to print off a postage label on Ebay, but could not as a message came up that there were too many characters on a line of the delivery address.

I contacted the buyer to say could his address be wrong, or could it be modified. He said no, it was correct and he had no issues with delivery before. So,

I tried another courier  and they also could not verify the address.

More contact with the buyer, plus apologies etc, and the messages were in good spirit from both sides.

The buyer decided to cancel the sale, which we both agreed was probably for the best.

Then lo and behold, 2 weeks later, negative feedback in block capitals saying that I had no idea how to post internationally.

Surprise surprise, after contacting ebay, I got the standard reply after investigation that no policies had been violated, so the feedback stood.

I do not know exactly what I was supposed to do when ebay themselves did not recognise the address.

I do actually sell quite a few items overseas, and now I have a big blot on my previously 100% positive feedback saying that I am not to be trusted sending abroad.

Is this the end of the line for me without reaching out to the "buyer" on bended knees to grovel for unfair feedback removal??

Thanks for reading guys.

David.

I tend to ignore ebay suggestions for addresses. Why didn't you just print the address from the seller hub and then goto the post office and send tracked?

I will use that info in future.
I've never had an issue before, and I thought if I posted to an address
that ebay didn't recognise, I would be liable if it got "lost in the post".
Thanks for your comments though.
David.

You have to post to the address the buyer used at checkout.   Ebay doesn't have to recognise it, as long as the courier does, it's ok.

Negative feedback left for a seller

Hi.
I didn't want to be liable by sending to an address that ebay didn't
recognise (neither did UPS auto recognition).
It was the fact we amicably agreed to cancel the sale, then 2 weeks later I
get that feedback. Makes me look bad for future International sales.
