My auction listing prices have been increased when I open them up

I'm puzzled to see that when I open some of my own auction listings to check content, the price shown is higher than the bid price I have set. Why? And surely this will put buyers off.

It's the new buyer protection fees ebay introduced in Feb this year just for private sellers, you can read about it here, Buyer Protection - information for sellers | eBay

Thank you - I've now read about it. I stand guilty as charged - I haven't
been keeping up with notifications. But I'm rather disturbed by it, as I
tend to sell inexpensive items such as paper ephemera, my main aim after
years of hoarding being simply to place them where they're wanted. I feel
this really will put buyers off, and would have preferred to continue to
pay a seller's fee. But I'm probably unusual in this.

If your items are £10 or under, you wouldn't need postal tracking to get paid if a buyer was to leave you feedback,as that would release any payment within 2 days of the feedback confirmation. Bay changed this option of the BPF as many complained about selling low valued items and tracking being to expensive to advocate on cheap items.

Many sellers are complaining and feel unsettled by these new policies
