Lost item

I sent an item using the suggested method by eBay and downloaded a label from ebay. The buyer has not received the item I checked with the courier they believe it to be lost. What do I do in this situation who is responsible for refunding the buyer myself or eBay.

If it is eBay what do I need to do to facilitate this. If I have to refund how do I get compensation.

I couldn't get a straight answer regarding this so I would appreciate any advice I really don't sell all that often

Lost item

You have sold a lot of items it would help if you said which one was lost as you have mostly simple delivery(eBay) but some direct postage.

If this was a simple delivery item ask the buyer to open a case for item not received,eBay will check tracking and if not showing delivered they will refund the buyer and you keep the payment.
